Overview
- This encounter is unchanged from the original Challenge Quest.
- A single-wave fight consisting of 8 formidable Servant enemies from diverse classes, the Great Battle of Swimmers has two overarching themes - the managing of enemies’ NP turns, and the prompt elimination of those who present the highest current threat to the party.
- Both of these tasks must be done while keeping up with the constant influx of new enemies, which can overwhelm Masters who come in unprepared.
- Of all the enemies in the stage, extra attention should be given to those with an AoE NP, namely Mordred (Rider), Marie Antoinette (Caster), and Scathach (Assassin), as their NPs can take huge chunks out of the entire party’s HP.
- It should be noted that the damage from these AoE NPs is low enough that 5-star Servants with full HP are likely able to survive through one, especially with the help of defensive buffs.
- This damage, however, can be increased by enemies who have party-wide Attack buffs or Defense Down debuffs.
- Yet, there are no special gimmicks or Break Bar Shenanigans in this encounter. Just one big Servant showdown.
- The stable recommended strategy is to employ a mix of NP drains, targeted elimination and Stuns to synchronize enemy NP turns, thereby allowing the team’s party-wide Invincibility/Evasion or Taunts to absorb multiple NPs with one usage.
- AoE NPs are also recommended for general performance, although ST NPs are still a great option for better surgical elimination.
Enemy Servant Classes
The enemy team consists of the following classes:
- 2 Archers: Altria Pendragon + Anne & Mary
- 2 Lancers: Tamamo no Mae + Kiyohime
- 1 Rider: Mordred
- 1 Caster: Marie Antoinette
- 1 Assassin: Scathach
- 1 Ruler: Saint Martha
With no Sabers to counter them and 2 Archer enemies, Lancer Servants thus perform better than usual here.
However, (AoE) Berserkers truly excel here with so many different classes to deal with.
Team Recommendations
- The damage from AoE Servants is key to many of the more fast-paced setups. AoE Servants with bonus trait damage and/or Berserker class advantage can chew through immense chunks of HP and even 3-turn this encounter.
- Masters with some of the top AoE options (and at higher NP levels) should consider simply going all in on offense and closing the encounter before any complications arise.
- Either way, Berserker-, Avenger-, Ruler- and even Lancer-class Servants are highly recommended as they can deal full damage to all Servants.
- For those in for the long haul defensive measures are required, especially NP Drains, Stuns and NP Seals help a lot to sync up NP bars and tank multiple NPs at once.
- A steady source of Defense buffs and healings are also highly effective at shielding Servants from class disadvantage. Berserkers especially highly profit from Taunts and Defense buffs.
- Think ahead: Based on the Servant that is going to show up, it may be worthwhile to delay a kill or hurry up a kill so that multiple NPs can be handled at once. For example, having Altria show up when Marie has 2 NP charges is ideal for timing one good NP protection.
Kill Order Recommendations
Recommended General Kill Order:
- Mordred (Rider)
- Tamamo no Mae (Lancer)
- Either Anne & Mary (Archer) or Kiyohime (Lancer) based on NP timing
- Saint Martha (Ruler) or target based on NP timing (can it be tanked)
- Remaining target by NP timing
- Scathach (Assassin)
- 8. & 9. Progress based on what NPs can be tanked and who is most lethal for the party that remains.
Notes:
- Mordred is highly problematic with an AoE NP + NP Charge + Evasion/Guts Stalling + counters Caster Supports. Delete ASAP.
- Saint Martha is mainly unpredictable with her NP charge which can throw off any timing, she also dies relatively quickly to Berserkers and neutral classes with her lower base HP.
- Scathach has a short Assassin NP bar with an AoE NP. In addition, her NP has a chance of Instant death which you *know* is just going to land because that's how RNG works.
- Kiyohime & Tamamo have a synced NP bar, making tanking their first NP an easy affair (especially with Mash).
- Anne + Mary & Altria (Archer) have a short NP bar, but their ST NP can be handled and timed. In addition, Altria does lose an NP charge if she heals.
- Marie Antoinette's NP does not hit that hard and she has a full 5 Charges on her NP bar. Thing is that she likes to use her Invincibility to prevent any easy kills and based on incoming NP timers, it may simply be easier to handle Marie throughout the fight - especially as she isn't very harmful outside of her NP while her hit counts are superb (they charge your NP Bar).
