Valentine's 2022 - Challenge Guide: Party People, Get Down in Chaldea (Sei + Waver)

Requirements: The Main Quest line for the Event and Singularity: Solomon must be completed before this quest can be attempted.

• Sei Shounagon's ready to get the party started in Valentine's 2022's Challenge Quest, and she's accompanied by none other than Waver, who's here to help her set up the stage!
• This battle is a rather challenging faceoff against an Archer with 3 HP bars, and a Caster with 2 HP bars. The Archer brings most of the offensive firepower, while the Caster will spend most of the time buffing the Archer. The encounter can be soloed with certain Servants (see video section).
• Waver starts with a full NP Gauge when the battle starts, and if NP drain or stun isn't inflicted on him, there's a random chance his NP can stun the party, which can be a setback for some setups.
• Waver also applies NP Seal Immunity to his entire party (unremovable), so NP Seal is not an option.
• Sei Shounagon's NP can buff the Master's party via the effect she gains when starting battle. The buff is random each time, although a Servant cannot have Evade/Invincible active to receive the buff (and they must survive the damage). It should be possible to survive with defensive Class Advantage, although otherwise it can be difficult.
• On Waver's break, he charges Sei's NP Gauge and grants her Ignore DEF and gives her a turn of Invincible. For this reason, setting up DEF buff stacking to survive her NP is not a viable option. Evade / Invincible are still effective in avoiding damage, however (just won't receive the buffs for dodging her 'party'). Be ready for Sei to NP after breaking Waver!
• Sei's first break provides a small Crit Rate buff to all her allies for 5 turns, which is removable.
• Sei's 2nd break removes debuffs from all her allies and charges NP gauge by 1. Avoid using stuns / debuffs immediately before breaking her second bar!
• Waver also has three extra skills that he normally does not have; most of these are minor annoyances, while some can be helpful:
  • Apply Evade to a random frontline party member (2 times, 3 turns).
  • Increase Crit Rate of all allies and decrease the party's Stars by 20.
  • Remove 1 buff from all enemies.
• Sei Shounagon has innate 100% Charm Resist, so keep this in mind (particularly if using Servants such as Parvati, the Charm effect will in most cases not stick without Debuff Resist Down, so only Waver is vulnerable).

• AoE Lancer-class damage dealers are preferred if available, due to the more dangerous boss with three HP bars being Archer class.
• Ignore Invincibility on the damage dealer or a Support is helpful for dealing with the Invincibility that Waver will grant the enemy Sei Shounagon on Waver's break, as well as the Evade skill Sei periodically uses. The videos below frequently use Calamity Jane with Star drop CEs such as Golden Captures the Carp, to make sure her Ignore Invincibility effect is available. Sherlock Holmes is another Servant capable of providing the effect via his NP.
• Damage + NP Gauge Support is effective as always, and particularly for this challenge quest due to the lack of Event Damage boost CEs. The usual suspects, Merlin, Waver, Skadi, and Tamamo are all excellent choices depending on the damage dealer's card color of choice.
• AoE Evade/Invincibility for the party can be useful for dealing with Sei's AoE NP, which likely will fire once Waver's first HP bar is broken given he fills her NP Gauge to max.
  • It should be noted that being hit by Sei's NP (without Evade/Invincibility active) will grant any survivors some offensive buffs, although if your party cannot survive the damage then the point is moot.
  • Be wary that she gains an Ignore DEF effect when Waver charges her NP Gauge, so DEF stacking measures are not effective. Debuffs on Sei can help, although Sei will clear any debuffs on her 2nd break.
