Rabbit's Reviews #236: Paris (2* Archer)

Paris is a nifty servant. He’s the most accessible Quick Archer now, making him an option for fans of Quick setups who missed Altera, and he brings both some nice utility and surprisingly high burst damage. He can’t really sustain his damage output, but if all you need is a buff removal and a one-time nuke Paris will do very well.

Despite being a 2* Servant, Paris’s attack stat isn’t that far below his 3* competition, and in pretty much any situation where they do enough damage, so does he. He is a bit squishier to compensate, though. Paris has a Quick-leaning deck and pretty high hit-counts, so he can generate a fair number of stars, particularly off an NPQQ chain. His Arts NP gain is towards the upper end of what’s normal for his deck, though his Quicks are really bad. This means he’s capable of building his own NP, but he doesn’t really have noteworthy loop potential. For passives he has Magic Resistance and the highest level of Independent Action (though as a 2* his crits won’t hit particularly hard regardless).

Paris benefits from a surprisingly strong skillset with good internal synergy. Recommended skill order is 2>3>1.

Paris’s most obvious usage is as a one-time burst damage-dealer for fights where the enemy has an annoying buff you want removed. Paris uses all three of his skills, NPs for big damage, and then ideally goes away quickly. Chen Gong can facilitate this by either sticking his taunt on Paris or using his NP. Skadi can also boost Paris’s NP damage to somewhat ludicrous levels, of course, but his limited looping potential makes that something of a gimmick and not much more. It’s also worth noting that Kiyo can actually apply a buff to the enemy (with Stalking), which can let Paris get his bonus damage for “free.”

Kaleid is really Paris’s best friend unless you’re amping him with Skadi (in which case The Black Grail lets him explode harder). With Kaleid, Paris can do his thing with no prep whatsoever.

As a low-rarity ST servant with a strong kit, Paris will scale pretty hard with grails. He’s good enough at what he does even without grails, though, so try him out and see if he works for you as-is before you commit to investing in him.

Paris is held back by his lack of sustained damage, and he’s somewhat less appealing if you have Altera the Santa. That said, he brings some nice utility that used to be non-existent on free servants and his damage is surprisingly high. Not bad.
