Introduction

In case anyone missed it, the fourth anniversary in JP added seven new bronze servants—one of each main class—to the FP pool. First of the batch is Jason, a mostly-supportive Saber whose primary focus is buffing other Argonauts. He’s mostly a joke servant and mechanically he’s not particularly worthwhile, though he might have some corner-case value buffing Herc or Atalanta Alter.

Servant Skills

While Jason isn’t particularly good at support, all of his skills are supportive in nature, so that’s something, at least. Recommended skill order is 3>2>1.

Golden Fleece is a targeted heal on a short CD. It heals slightly less at max than Jack’s comparable skill, but in exchange it also removes… a single debuff. Against enemies who like to layer debuffs this won’t help much, but in fights that only have one very dangerous buff to work around this might be helpful.

Lion’s Den is a targeted dodge and star weight buff. The dodge only lasts one hit and wears off after a turn if not used, so it’s not very powerful, but it can get an ally through an enemy NP if needed. The star weight buff isn’t powerful enough to let a ‘Zerker crit reliably, but for any other class it’ll draw in stars effectively. In exchange, Jason becomes even squishier than he already is, so if the enemy decides to attack him instead of the enemy he protected (or if the enemy uses an AoE NP) he’ll die very quickly.

Seaways is the most interesting piece of Jason’s kit. For most servants, it’s a generic Charisma on a longer than normal CD. Argonauts, however, get a number of significant buffs: a 20% battery, a 30% crit damage buff, and a 30% star gen buff. While the combined buff value isn’t huge, it can let Argonauts with already-high card damage blow things up with their Busters. This is particularly noteworthy for ‘Zerkers (so Atalanta Alter and Herc), as if you’re able to enable crits they’ll hit quite hard.

Jason’s NP is an AoE Arts NP with a pre-damage Arts buff. The refund potential on this is actually slightly higher than is typical of AoE Arts NPs, but Jason’s damage is so pitiful that it ends up being mostly irrelevant in practice, and the odds that he’ll survive long enough to NP a second time are not good.

Jason is a joke servant, but at least he’s a pretty fantastic joke. He has a super situational use case if you really really like him, but generally speaking he’s there for you to laugh at his animations and largely ignore.
