As above, purely fr a gameplay perspective, is he worth it? Which other servants (current and future) have similar utilities and are a better choice for the job that he does, if any?
I only realise his usefulness in the recent Nerofest challenge quests...but am still not too convinced as I manage to use meldea , jack and rider martha for debuff removals too. Wonder if i am missing anything
I wouldn't waste SQ on him since Merlin is coming out. In one whole year of playing on NA, he was like only useful for that one fight in Nerofest. I just don't see any real reason to use him with his low damage on his AOE NP. I know it get's an upgrade soon and all, but i would just stick with Jack or Martha.
He's useful as a ruler class servant who is more damage focused than someone like Jeanne. There's lots of more widely useful servants coming out in the next few months though that will see more up-time in more varied content. He's definitely a niche like Jeanne, but so are most rulers in my opinion. Probably not worth the quartz unless you personally like his concept and what he does well.
He is extremely useful for specific challenge quests and other hard content where enemies spam buffs (for example, the recent parade of Hassans challenge quest in Nerofest), but he really isn't the best for everyday use. In my opinion, you could just grab one from the friend list if you ever need him, no need to actually spend quartz. In summary, his usefulness is normally pretty low, then skyrockets in very specific circumstances. Only get him if you actually like him.
Amakusa is the most convenient option for buff removal, since he wipes out buffs from the whole team. Everyone else is limited to single target, or they use it on skill followed by the usual cooldown period. However, though it's convenient, Amakusa's NP is still pretty niche. Salomon and Nerofest are the only times this will ever actually be necessary.
There's also the thing that his NP removes buffs before applying the damage. Most of people with buff removal on NP like Medea, remove them after stabbing people and, on some cases, are really unreliable due to BBB deck (Musashi&Ibaraki).
Amakusa is one of the toptier buster memers, he's up there with Gilgamesh. He's basically the King of dealing with gimmicks and his Ruler privilege makes him quite tanky. Of course he's an unit of hard content only, so you wouldn't use him as much because this game's difficulty is a myth.
