Itself the only resources I immediately need/can use from the box is the qp, mana prisms and the exp cards. Is it worth to use the 18golden apples from unlimited maintenance works on lotto box farming for just those or should I save for next event? I know on a purely ap cost standpoint it's more efficient to farm those three things itself via the box then otherwise but is that enough of an incentive still?
You should really not use them on just qp, mps, and exp cards. Look at the Christmas lottos, see if they have anything more you want, and save them for that if they do. If they don't, you should save them for a 1/2 ap daily event or something else more beneficial. Using them on a lotto you don't want anything from is such a huge waste.
We still have Christmas as a lottery too and for me that's generally better since that has bones, void dusts, and snake jewels in the second event and seeds and homunculus babies in the first event (the Christmas rerun) so you could still farm. I'm currently at box 15 since I decided to ignore Nero and her festival for Christmas.
With that aside, I would suggest either farming for now if you aren't like me who doesn't have much time now, but has more time in Christmas while and doesn't really need any of the mats, and if you are busy right now and find Christmas's lineup more needed (like me) save everything for Christmas.
Everyone keeps saying that you need to since many people need medals and chains, so they keep suggesting this as if Christmas doesn't exist IMHO.
PS. Do try to farm for gold medals for MPs this. For Chaldea lunchtime and in the final sigularity (I'm not going to tell spoilers) bond points are EXTEREMELY important or so I'm told.
Both answers above are pretty valid but something to consider before Christmas, the Halloween event will provide 16+ Golden Apples as rewards, and some Silver and Bronze in-between them too.
I'm personally in need of Eternal Gears and Mana Prism for Chaldea Lunchtime and QP too in general right now so I'm emptying it out but if you got more mats to aim for in Christmas, I think it won't hurt to spend at least a few apples right now still just for the extra resources you can get now. I think the general rewards in lottery events are a huge boon either way and always make them worth it to invest in a few apples.
Seconded this, and want to add that Medal is important, because you don't want to farm it on Camelot. 😈
True as well! Even if you don't need Medals right now, you'll do eventually when a servant spooks you in your future rolls.

And this roulette is legit easy way to hoard medals.
The new Christmas lottery seems to be better as it will have all types of gems and no pieces/monuments.

Im fairly new with only 52 total log in. So I haven't experienced a Christmas or Halloween event. However I just thought id share my personal experience with this event thus far and hope it helps.
So far I've use all my bronze and silver apples and about 11 golden apples. Im currently on lotto box 21 and thus far I've only reset after getting all the rewards. As for CE I have 2 "Glory is with me" w/o any LB and 2 "Joint Recital" at Max LB
I started this event at lvl 84-86 with no apples, 14 mana prisms, 4M QP.
Currently im lvl 107 with 11 gold apples, 60M+ QP, & 738 Mana Prisms (after buying everything from the Mana prism shop) and I've been able to reach max lvl at max ascension for 2-5*, 4-4*, 3-3* starting form lvl 1
Hope this info may help you get a general idea of what you can gain for you're self.
