Jalter + Kiyohime Lancer combo?

So..! I’ve been thinking..!

As famous as Jalter is, I have no idea how viable it is to stick her with another offensive servant. I know buster memes staring line ups are pretty much : offensive buster servant + support + support (or Memelin) .... but would it be detrimental to stick her with another offense servant like Kiyohime Lancer for example? I know there is synergy between Jalter’s skills and Kiyo’s traits, but does it work well enough to put two offensive servants and one support out there in the frontlines? Or should it really just be focused down on one?

Honestly? It's supposed to be like that against bosses since this game focuses on buffing your servants and killing enemies that's the nature of the game. Still could be done with it it's not like it's not viable. People run triple berserkers just for quick story progression and about having two supports is to maximize the damage potential of the main damage dealer. One would be a support damage dealer though. If I'm running it with Merlin I would use Kiyo's defense down on the enemy while Jalter would be the main damage dealer with her buster crits, so I'd equip Kiyo with maiden leading Chaldea or 2030, but honestly just run whoever you want.

I see, I see. That makes a lot of sense. And you’re right..! I should just more or less try and play however I feel like. I’m sure it’s more fun that way too— and experimenting is half of it! I suppose I’m just being blinded by numbers and all that kinds of stuff. Thanks for your reply! :D

Yep that's the style in story and regular fights, but be careful and plan when fighting a boss node or a raid. Research it first and strategize. Basic stuff anyway.

I’m leaning towards it. If I commit to it, I’ll make a post about it tomorrow I think! (And beg to re-add all you amazing people of you still want my beginner butt around. ;w;) I thought about it for a long time and watched a ton of YouTube videos on all the servants to try and educate myself about the trade. He really wants the Illya and Squirtle and I could fancy myself having a lot of fun with Kiyohime. ^ ^

I’ll also be gaining other really strong servants too, like Raikou, and Jalter. I don’t know if I could put them on a team together, but I hear individually they’re all great! :o

Mmhmm. I personally think it can work. Especially as long as one damage dealer is the main DPS and the other can fire off AOE for quick wave eliminations.

Like one of my favorite set ups to run lately is an Artoria-Waver-Jalter team while using the Chaldea Combat Suit

In Artoria’s case, she can fire her NP off with 5 Attack buffs plus her 1 time Buster Up in this scenario for a massive increase in damage

The situation is similar for KiyoLancer (minus 1 Attack buff). If she’s paired with a Waver and Jalter, she can have 4 Attack buffs plus her Buster Up on her Noble Phantasm. Using her defense debuff skill adds to that even more.

So it’s not that it can’t work, IMO it can work quite well. It’s just that most people turn to Jalter as Main DPS thanks to her astronomically high attack stat and her reputation of being a Crit Beast

Reading about Atoria with all that power pumped into her just makes me think of the iconic scene where she uses Excalibur on Caster in Fate Zero. I can hear the clinking of her armor, and the ost slowly rising up to be that powerful moment. <3

Haha anime aside, that’s wonderful to hear! What I want to do, at least in theory, is to make a team around Kiyohime. I know Tamamo Lancer (a direct same class competitor) and Jalter (as just a powerhouse) are both vastly superior to her in every way— but just thinking about using your favorite servants to save the world is just so exciting and fun! :D

Yeah me too haha Excalibur is my favorite NP to watch for sure. As powerful as it is now, it’s nothing compared to its full power which is sealed off according to the lore. Each of the 13 Knights of the Round Table have a Seal that’s been placed on Excalibur. A completely unsealed Excalibur is supposedly strong enough to destroy a Beast-Class enemy full stop. They’ll probably never allow full power Excalibur but it’s still pretty cool

From what I’ve heard, KiyoLancer is on par with or slightly better than TamaLancer in any situation outside of Male Servant battles

If you’re looking to boost Kiyo’s offensive capabilities, I do think that Jalter works well enough in that regard in a Pre-Merlin world. The fact that she’s got an AOE NP helps too. Throw in a support Waver and you could make Kiyohime a solid main DPS.

Ah yes yes~ that lore driven version is partially why I'll be rolling for Arthur when he comes out...! I saw a video of his Proto Excalibur Noble Phantasm and oh my goodness I want that. We get six of the thirteen seals unlocked, and it already looks that great. :D

I'm a little puzzled what you mean by an AOE NP though. Are you referring to Beserker Kiyohime? :o I never thought about putting her on a team with Jalter before... but yes, it certainly could be done I think! XD

Huh. That’s right. Jalter has an ST NP. I don’t know how I forgot that. Sorry. Hmmm. That’s the biggest issue with the build then. I don’t guess it’s a major issue though. AOE Noble Phantasms are essentially there for farming convenience or quick wave clearing but it’s nowhere near an absolute requirement.

I’m always somewhat hesitant about putting two ST servants in the same team except for very specific situations but I suppose it wouldn’t hurt in this case.

I can’t remember how many seals Artoria has unlocked. Some of them were unlocked from the start and she unlocks another in her Interlude (finally confirming that True Excalibur also has the Seals like Proto Excalibur)

Hmm... maybe one day Chaldea will need the power of Excalibur to save the world somehow...! To my knowledge (granted small), Artoria hasn't been a part of a Story Chapter as a main character servant... so maybe when they implement that, we can see a scene play out in text at least! Haha at least that's what I'll hope..! ;w;

But winding back down to Kiyo and Jalter, yup they're both ST Buster NPs. I think at the end of the day, Kiyo would have to be a "supportive" dps, if you could call it that, with her defense down debuff. She'll benefit from Jalter's buffs, and together they'll burn the enemy to a crisp! If it was Waver for a support... I'm thinking the order for a NP chain would be: Waver, KiyoLancer, Jalter?

It's too bad Waver's NP isn't a buster. It would be a triple buster NP chain. Now that would be a Buster Meme. xD

I’m curious to see who the Grand Saber is. Some people think it’s Arthur Proto but I don’t think that’s right. His connections to both Beast VI (Beast of 666) and massive enemies in general does add weight to that theory though
