Who should I save for?

Hello everyone. I'm a new player and started just two days ago. I would like to know which servants are worth saving for, as I'm still quite inexperienced and unsure of how different servants perform in the game.

If you're not saving for a specific waifu, save for Merlin. This game is a lot about collecting waifus and husbandos and generally Nasuverse characters you like. From a purely gameplay perspective though save for Merlin, Lord of the memes (He can grow dicks anywhere)

I just wanna say that I know what you’re referring to and that shit had me shook. The fact that you chose a Mordred meme makes that even more relevant lmao

Situations such as this are the reason why we need Altera to destroy Bad Civilization.

If you don’t have any particular favorites, some servants you may want to look into that are coming up are:
-Merlin(he comes out some time in December, best support in the game, especially if you decide to run more buster based servants)
-Musashi(she’ll come out around the same time as Merlin, she’s a great buster based saber servant)
-King Hassan(he’ll come out in the beginning of next year, buster based as well, widely considered to be the best assassin in the game)
But all in all, gameplay doesn’t really matter in this game and you can make anyone work really. Do your research and experiment with different types of teams. I’m personally right now a big fan of Buster Crit teams though I’m also dabbling into Arts teams. Have fun, prepare for salt, and most importantly, remember what’s important: your waifu/husbando.

What servants do you currently have? I agree that Merlin is a great servant to save for, but if you only started 2 days ago, I don't know if you should be overly concerned about saving just yet. I'm not saying to be irresponsible with your quartz and tickets, but like... you need *some* servants to start out with. If you're sitting there with only 2 servants or something, you probably don't want to try to stay that way until Merlin becomes available in December. And even if you do, what's the point of having Merlin if you don't even have any decent servants to use with him? At least do a 10-roll or two to get your roster filled out a bit, imo. That would hopefully at least get you a semi-decent servant of each class that you can work on and use in events and stuff, until Merlin (or whichever banner you want to save for) comes around. They don't all need to be gold servants or anything... You can look at the 1-3* tier list for some ideas of lower rarity servants that are worth building.

Waifus aside, saving for a particular servant is probably moreso something you want to do once you have an existing roster of servants, so you can decide which new servants would benefit you the most. But that's just my opinion. It might be irresponsible advice. But whatever you do, don't roll on the Prisma Codes banner.

My go to servants are Proto Cu, Caesar, Carmilla, Medusa and Mash. Cu, Caesar and Carmilla have been ascended once and Medusa will be ascended after a bit of grinding. I have no berserkers at the moment, however. This good enough?

Your mains so far are fine for the most part. Caesar is likely the best saber you have easy access to atm. Likewise, Carmilla is the best non-5 star assassin at the moment. Medusa is fine as a rider, not the best, not bad. Ushiwakamaru is a better rider, but that doesn't matter too much. Normal Cu lancer is generally considered better than proto Cu since he has guts on top of his dodge and is really just a more focused servant, but again, if you want to use proto that's fine and entirely up to you.

Any idea what you want to use as main archer/caster? Recommendations for each are euryale/robin hood for archer and Medea/Hans Christian Anderson for caster. It's a good idea to try to get a berserker ASAP, but don't stress if you don't manage it.

As for what you should save for, I'm gonna parrot most others on this thread and say Merlin. In terms of gameplay, as long as you are willing to invest in him and max him out, he is one of few servants who can be universally used in almost any situation. Along with Waver, he makes any team you create better, and makes the game a whole lot easier.

Ultimately though, that's only from a gameplay perspective, and I would recommend that you have a look at some of the servants and pick a few that you personally like the look of and save for them. As good as Merlin is, he isn't necessary to have, and it's much more worthwhile just to use what you like rather than what the meta tells you to use.

I pretty much second everything that zer0z said. You can make do with what you have, but it would be nice to get your hands on an archer as well, because there seems to be no shortage of saber enemies in this game. A berserker can be nice to have, but it's not really a necessity. The 3* berserkers are all kind of iffy, so unless you get your hands on a Herc or something, I don't think that it's really much of a priority. I built Lu Bu, but I almost never actually wind up using him, because his fragility just doesn't seem quite worth the damage he can do. I've got a level 40 Herc on my second account, and it honestly feels like he hits just as hard as the level 70 Lu Bu on my main account. Kiyohime can be useful as a farmer, but only if you have Kaleidoscope or Imaginary Element or something. As far as casters go, Hans is only a 2* servant, but he is 100% worth building, and he should probably be prioritized over any other caster that you might have.

Once you get to harder stuff, you will find it kind of hard to get very far without a good support. You can always borrow a Waver from your friend list, but then that means that you have to supply your own damage dealer in every situation. But if you have Hans, then you can usually supply your own support, which frees you up to borrow whatever you want/need from your friends. This can be exceptionally useful during events, because you can't really control which servants your friends decide to stick their MLB event CEs on, so you kind of just gotta borrow whichever servant has the CE that you need. On this particular event that we just had, it seems like a lot of people derped out and gave Waver weird CEs, or even removed their Wavers all together.
