Best Girl's / Daddy Issues' Long Term Viability

Hey I'm playing through the FSN visual novel right now and am in love with Saber (Artoria). Moedred was also really cute in apocrypha and seemed like a solid bro.

I'm in America rn because all my time so far in the past month has been dedicated to grinding pretty much. Got plenty of mats for these grills and was wondering if they're still usable or simply insufficient in difficult fights I'll face as the story progresses. Do their weaknesses just make them poor choices?

I know they will be on the saber banner coming after the Illya event so I'd roll on that if they're good.

I could roll for Nero bride to have good synergy with my Chloe (Who I'm grailing to 100 and have level 87 rn) and my Waver who is level 90 but fate/extra was just so unworldly bad I dropped it in 3 episodes.

PS my best saber is a level 1 Brock and my other option is Gilles (lol)

Well in terms of gameplay only, Nero bride probably offers the greatest value since she's so versatile.

Currently Mordred is pretty much just a slightly better Artoria with a very niche NP effect. Altera is better than both of them at the same thing. However, way into the future (very recently in JP), Artoria gets her third skill replaced with a 30% NP charge which is pretty useful and arguably makes her better than/on par with Altera.

Other good saber options to consider are Musashi (buster ST) and lancelot (4 star arts-crit machine).

That said, if you really like Artoria and Mordred, there's no reason not to use them. They aren't the best, but they aren't unusable either. Any weaknesses they have can be compensated for with strong support. Nothing in the game is hard enough that you need the BEST servants to beat it.

The advice that most people give is to roll for and use the servants you like most.

Musashi looks great but I've seen a lot of mixed thoughts on her for some reason so I might end up passing IDK. I'll be rolling for Merlin though of course so they'd go hand in hand.

She's solid but falls off quite a bit over time having a C(the lowest) ranking on appmedia currently she struggles due to relying heavily on her first skill to gain NP(though when it does line up she can gain almost a full bar of NP in one turn) which can leave you praying to RNJesus that you get your one art card on time. This triple buster deck also has the effect of getting in the way of your supports arts chians(as all top tier supports have triple arts decks). Finally like most high damage ST servants she loses out on a lot once hp breaks are introduced as a large amount of her damage will end up just going to waste once you do manage to get it charged up.

Hopefully that helps you understand why people have some mixed feelings about Musashi.

To be fair though appmedia's tier lists in particular aren't known for their longevity. They change based on the most relevant content. A week or two ago she was an A, the second highest for any saber with only Nero bride above her. She's c now cos skadi quick memes are the new meta. Her placement will probably change when a new event happens in JP.

Yep thats why I went into more detail as to her weak points that lead to her shifting frequently rather as opposed to someone like GIl or Ozzy who are always at the top of the tier list. But yeah the whole tier list basically shifted down a rank to normal with the advent of double skaddi + Edmond pushing almost everything out of S tier.

Also worth noting even at C rank by 5* standards in the cross rarity tier list she remains firmly in A tier.

I kinda just don't see the point in shifting the general tier list around every new event. I would've thought it'd be better just to make a separate one for each event.

Yeah that's the thing. Her banner is really close to a bunch of other great ones. Merlin, gilgamesh, King Hassan are all arguably better(?) than her.

Yeahhh. For me, Arturia, Mordred, and Rama cover all of my Saber necessities other than an Arts team so Musashi would just be excess for me and would take away resources I could use to cover one of my weaker Classes. As such, it would be impractical for me to roll for her (I’ll still probably throw a ticket at her banner or something) whereas Merlin, King Hassan, and Gilgamesh would absolutely boost both my teams and my options for each of their respective Classes immensely

First off no servant is bad. Even Stheno. It's just that some servants are better and easier to use than others (like a certain someone who everyone only uses for his skills and his skills are as simple as "press here when CD is complete").

Mordred and OG Seiba are both viable to use with decent kits actually. Just a combination of AOE NPs as well as talents that don't completely synergize and directly benefit the servant make both Moe and her 'dad' less heralded than say Okita (whose NP is ST and talents self buff her np and quick hits) or Nero bride (best ST arts support again with an ST np) or Saberlot (all 3 of his talents and again an ST np. Maybe you're noticing a trend here).

Very few servants are actually meta breaking when compared to their peers.

You should understand most people played FGO because they can posses their beloved servants. So of you like Artoria/Mordred, then go ahead no problem.

Also no servant is weak as 10/10/10 and maxed level. The problem is that you should aware which servant is required to maxed to 3-10 at first priority, because materials are definitely finite. You quartz and farming time are also not infinite. Building a team require much more things, but a decent team can boost a DPS servant by 2-3 times.

Only four top supports (Waver, Merlin, Skadi and Tamamo) are always top, but also depending on what team it is, like even though you have Merlin you still could be failed if you want him to support Quick orientated DPS.

CE is also significant. CE could be divided by "good or bad" becasue there is limited welfare to leveling them up. Some CE like 2030 are unique, but some have bad compatibility with servants and team.

Alright, back to Artoria and Mordred. They have decent AOE NP and burst boost, but they indeed required support. If you can roll Waver and Merlin or even Nightingale, team up with Artoria/Mordred is never a issue for either farming or challenge quest. Nero bride on the other hand is more unique since all her three skills could be decent support. Especially compared with her OG SR saber with quite selfish and unreliable skill.

Okita on the other hand has excellent NP gain so she is best ST saber so far, but you cannot get her in her event. Also, decent Quick support for her is non-existed until 2 years later.

By the way, Nero bride is not same as Nero for Fate/Extra Last Core. So please dont be biased for Nero bride. Haha.

This was a great reply, thank you I appreciate it! I have a Tamamo I've yet to level and a Waver I've maxed out so maybe they could pair very well together in an arts stall team of sorts. But at the end of the day I do like Artoria and Mordred a lot so maybe if there's a class guaranteed gacha coming some time soon in NA I'll just have to get the saber class and hopefully get one through there.

Given the two supports you have your ideal target for gameplay reasons would be Lancelot saber. Him and Squirtle are likely the two best arts dps. And using him with Tamamo and waver just means a whole lot of np and crit spam

Merlin makes just about any Buster servant good at this point lol

I have Artoria and Mordred as my two main Sabers and I think they’re great despite their limitations

Same. Merlin’s the only servant I plan to whale for. I’m putting back $30 worth SQ from each of my paychecks until he comes out and whatever’s left goes to my King Hassan funds

If I still don’t have him, I’ll reevaluate my budget haha
