I'm new to FGO, so I don't really know how everything works... so I'm sorry if this is a "dumb" question! Thank you in advance for your patience with me!
I only started playing at the tail end of summer, and I have been lucky enough to get Archer Atoria. I also plan to Get Chloe through the event.
That said, is it viable at all to put two archers on the same team?
They're both archers, and both arts based...! So I'm thinking good synergy! But will their star weights as archers make them clash? Or does that not matter?
I mean, it’s usually better to pair one of them with an Arts support and either another Arts support or an Arts AOE for wave clearing
Their skill sets don’t have synergy in the sense that they’re both very self-sufficient and don’t benefit others aside from Archer Artoria’s Charisma B Skill.
If you want to run with them both, do so. Having fun is the main goal I think. But they’re better off in separate teams in most cases

To answer that, no it isn't viable (Still could be done) and just like what you said their star weights would clash lowering one's ability to crit specially when Kuro's a half crit servants due to her first skill.
Now to answer the question about synergy. It doesn't mean that they're both arts based and has the same class makes them synergize, synergy and team composition focus on increasing the ability of the main damage dealer to kill enemies or fixing the weakness of the main damage dealer. For example Archuria doesn't have survivability, but is tanky so you mix her with Mash and Tamamo caster for damage and survivability and stuff.
Still would do it for just because I don't have anything to play with and stuff.
^what they said. You don’t want to match by classes and you won’t always match by Buster/Arts/Quick types either.
You have to find ways to counter your servants’ weaknesses while simultaneously boosting their strengths. That’s key.
I would also recommend finding supports with Waver as he’s also an ideal support for almost any team.

As @tlas and ruzeron said it's a poor combination don't do it. Theoretically they could be used together but they wouldn't exceed the sum of their parts but rather be less than. Either one excels by brave chaining with nps to spam nps turn after turn. It is better to surround either with 2 supports whose attacks you don't care about and who can make whichever Archer is your main dps shine.
If you're insistent on it though, Kuro becomes the main dps. Squirtle would still be a dps/support hybrid but you would be using her more for her skills and wouldn't be concerned with using her to np spam. You'd use Kuro to do so instead
To add on, my recommendation would be to do Squirtle, tamamo, waver if possible and if not swap waver for post Camelot mash. Squirtle can actually be used to solo content once you 10/10/10 her (or 10/10/whatever. Her third skill isn't as important). Since she can np arts arts every turn, she's able to np most turns which in turn is able to drain a charge most turns as well as doing a lot of consistent damage to boss/bosses. And her heal and defense up from her first skill help against regular boss hits using the heal when she gets low. This added to the fact that she has the highest health stat for an SSR Archer in the game
Hmm I see... Thinking about what you said I also rolled a Nightingale. She's supposed to be a support right? Maybe I could pair her with Squirtle instead, since she has a low star weight, two arts cards and has more healing with her np! Am I thinking this through right?
Nightingale's niche is buster support for the reasons you mentioned as well as because she does decent damage being a berserker and her main boost being a buster up. For Squirtle, alternate support options are Nero bride and Mozart. Tamamo would be a must though in my eyes. Her abilities and np just synergize too well with all arts servants. Waver is a luxury but this is because waver fits any team

Yes she does. Mozart...kinda does but as a 2 star he's limited. Mozart's primary boon other than his arts boost is the skill he has that lets him gain 50 stars in one turn. This is amazing true but considering one of Kuro's abilities actually increases her star gen, more stars especially that many isn't as necessary. I'd add you so you could use my Tama support but full friends list :( also my Tama support is still only level 80 xD

Added. My recommendation would be to focus only on levelling Archer Artoria first. At max level she can carry you through a lot of content by herself. Of course....that may take awhile given she needs 30 knight medals xD

Eh, just play with who you love to play with, and if you are up against a ton of sabers, why not both of your favorite archers? And if the stars are too split for good crits, then you get an extra turns or two to watch their battle animation ;-)
Once you have a couple good servants leveled in each class, most battles aren't hard enough to require too much worry about synergy. So far in Prisma, the only servant I had actually die from my initial lineup was kiyohime because she has no survivability, and I usually just grabbed da vinci (for higher chance of art chain), kiyohime and whatever female was effective against the boss.
Very true. Team building is really only for the hardest boss fights. I run triple lancer for Archer dailies and similar class advantage comps for the minutia
I run OG Altria in Archer dailies all of the time haha
The emphasis of Fate Grand Order (from how I see it) is 60% fun, 20% progress, 10% strategy, and 10% grinding despair lmao

All joking aside, I just didn’t really see a reason to roll for Illya. I have Sansang and waver already so I figured I didn’t need another SSR until Musashi/Hassan/Merlin
Is it necessary to have 2 hitters in a team? Typically Kuro doesn't have any supportive skill except for Illya...
Off course, a team build up is critical for a difficult boss fight. But normally, 1 hitter + 2 supports (including special support like taunt and healing, AOE evade, etc...) >= 1 hitter + 1 hitter/support + 1 support > 2 hitters + 1 support. Except some specific servants like Nero bride, Brynhilder, Jack, Ozy or Cualter and other Berserkers....
So I even considered David is decent as support/hitter than Kuro in paired with Squirtoria. Or Euryale even better in a male boss fight, even though they are 3 stars. Maybe Tristan as 4 star?
I see I see! I guess it's better to channel all your resources into one main damage dealer than to spread them out! I will keep this in mind and to maximize my servant's potential! :D
