Camelot Gawain: How Worried Should I Be?

I got bored of farming the dailies during the dead week so decided to make some progress on Camelot. I made it through Gawain I without anyone dying but wiped on my first try at Gawain II. I narrowly beat him on my second attempt, with a team of level 70 Archer Artoria with MLB Classic Three Great Heroes, level 48 Tristan with Innocent Maiden, level 90 Jeanne with MLB Imaginary Element, level 40 David, story support Bedivere, and level 80 Heracles with Imaginary Element.

To make the experience more entertaining, I don't use friend supports during story content and I don't read guides ahead-of-time, although I have picked up on some things just by reading the Q&A on this site -- for instance, I'm pretty sure the other major bosses are King Hassan, Ozy, Mordred, Lancelot, Tristan, and Lancer Artoria, but I don't know what their special abilities are (nor do I want to know).

With that in mind, and without spoiling the mechanics of the upcoming battles, how much more leveling up do I need to do before proceeding with my Camelot journey? Is Gawain II about the level of difficulty I should expect for all subsequent boss fights, or is he inordinately difficult? I know I need to level up Archer Artoria, Tristan, and David, but it's a question of whether I aim for 90/80/70 or something more like 80/70/60. For what it's worth, my other noteworthy servants are level 90 Minamoto-no-Raikou, level 74 Tamamo lancer (aka Tristan gonna get wrecked! Hopefully), level 70 Altera, level 70 Emiya, level 70 Da Vinci, level 60 Saber Lancelot, and a poor level 14 Waver who spooked me during summer -- basically, I have a lot of great pieces, but I haven't had the time / resources to fully grow them.

Always aim for max level (90 for SSR, 80 for SR, etc). It's not only for main storyline, but to make everything easier. Camelot's bosses are easy while you have fully leveled servants.

Nevermind. Good luck and Godspeed

Yeah, I’ve heard some bits and pieces that suggest that Tristan’s class is not what it appears to be (which makes sense, given that he’s the only non-Saber out of the core Knights of the Round Table), but I can’t wrap my mind around how that could work. Does he change at will via a skill? Does he get treated as a Saber only when giving (or receiving?) damage but an Archer at all other times? I don’t know. I’m pretty excited to find out when we eventually cross paths!

Can't say anything without spoiling it. I will say though that Tristan is pretty much the easiest one once you figure out his gimmick. The Camelot knights were fun ^^

Each of the Knights are special. Without spoiling, I can unequivocally say that you have to analyze each one. Some will be obvious from the get-go but others will push you to think.

If you go in assuming that things work as they normally do, you’ll have a rough time. Camelot essentially breaks all of the rules that were laid out thus far in the game. That’s all I can say.

If you want to enjoy the gameplay most, Bring a team of level 60s with no maxed out characters. You will have to apply strategy to win.

If you want to enjoy it and not cut yourself after spending 100+ AP per boss fight, set that cap to 70. You'll have to play some class advantage and taking advantage of things like anti male etc helps (cough*Euryale*cough) but you'll be less susceptible to being wiped out by stray crits and having to restart.

If you want to clear it easy breezy just bring a team of 80s and 90s or really for some fights even 1 level 90 strong friend support will do. Could make it a Tamamo and waver if you don't want to rely on a friend's servants for offensive fire power.

As for boss difficulty uhhhh they all have gimmicks. Once you figure out the gimmicks (I really don't want to spoil it) the bosses become easy peasy. Except for the last boss who is just a normal boss and Ozy and Egyptian Choco too. All the knights have their own gimmick like gawain's instant np charge which I'm assuming you semi countered with Squirtle's np spam drain

Also if you max level Squirtle she is literally the only Archer you'll ever need for any Archer (and basically any non lancer) related content. The others (3*and 4* archers) become completely unnecessary as she's that complete a unit and is worth getting 10/10/10 of. And yes she absolutely can solo a lot of content long as there's no Lancers (and possibly rulers too)

You need some better CEs :o

What would you recommend? I have most non-event exclusive four star CEs and a good selection of five stars, though I am missing Kaleidoscope and Formalcraft.

The one you have on Squirtle is ok but if you have Black Grail or Heaven's feel those would be better till you get Formal Craft (Black Grail is actually better than formal Craft for overall damage if you can heal through it)

Jeanne doesn't really need starting np as she is able to fill her bar pretty well on her own. Give her a good support CE instead like 2030 or something that gets her stars. It's tempting to have her be able to np right off the bat against a boss like Gawain that spams np but David is better to weather the first one and as a ruler she just doesn't take much damage anyway. Vessel of the saint can also be good especially if you can use at least 2 of the debuff immunities to avoid her np stun.

Herc should probably get the IE that you've mlbed as his np gain is poor and his best use is basically damaging the snot out of whatever boss as the solo backliner alive. Even without his bond CE he survives quite awhile and his npbb chain does about 120-150k damage. As a backliner the more you can npbb the better. Alternately he is a good candidate for golden sumo especially if it's limit broken since base attack buffs buff all his attacks.

With Tristan, David and any riders crit CEs would do. They crit often so upping their crit damage is helpful. This is assuming you don't have any arts or buster up CEs.

If nothing else too, when in doubt put golden sumo on whoever your main dpser is. Lets them np quicker and ups their damage throughout the fight.

I'm assuming that if you have the mlbed sanzang event ce that you have an mlbed onigashima shop ce by the way

*Does 120-150k damage at that level with no buffs up. With his attack and crit buff up, waver buffs, and crits and at grailed level 90 (which mine is) and fully foued it does a whopping 300-320k xD
