P2Ps: How do you think about your FGO spend?

I'm curious to hear from other P2Ps on how long you've been spending on the game, why you started spending in the first place, how much you've spent (if you're comfortable sharing that), and how you decide how much money you want to allocate to FGO. For instance, do you put a portion of each paycheck toward FGO? Do you identify which banners you want to roll on and set a limit for how much you spend on each banner? Have you ever gotten upset at yourself for how much you've spent?

I was heavily invested in the Fate franchise and greater Nasuverse, so I started playing the game at launch, dropped off around Nerofest, and rejoined just before Journey to the West started. I bought my first $80 quartz pack during Onigashima, another during Camelot Rate-Up #1, and one more during the Guaranteed SSR Banner ( I rolled Medb, when I already had Ozy :/ ).

Sometimes I feel stupid for spending $80 at a time on this game because I could buy a brand new PS4 game for less than that. But, then I think about the backlog of games that I've purchased and don't have time to play (looking at you, Monster Hunter World, Nier Automata, and Detroit Become Human), and I don't feel as bad.

Additionally, have you noticed that your luck has dramatically improved ever since you started buying quartz? It's just anecdotal and it's hard to identify what is coming from improved luck vs. just rolling more times, but since I started spending, I've pulled Minamoto-no-Raikou, Ozy, NP3 Nitocris, Saberlot, Da Vinci, Altera, Tristan, and a bunch of good five-star CEs, like Fragment of 2030. I ask because if I were a game developer whose only way of monetizing this game was by selling currency that only improved (didn't even guarantee!) players' odds of getting a rare card, I would absolutely build in a mechanic that guaranteed them an SSR (or at least dramatically improved their odds of getting one) if they spent a certain amount, since I'd want to convince players that buying more quartz is worthwhile and prevent players from getting discouraged if they spent a lot and didn't get any good cards.

Well as a full blown whale I've definitely regretted spending money on the game but that's the nature of rolling such a low chance gatcha. As for how much I decide to spend on a given banner usually comes down to how much I want something on it most banners I'll stop after $80 though.

As for luck mine definitely fell after I started spending though that has more to do with it being exceptional before I started spending(I had an almost 2% 5* rate over a fairly large number of rolls) so it's expected that it would average out eventually. Aside from that the concept you're talking about of a guaranteed 5* after rolling so much is commonly referred to as a pity timer and unfortunately has not been implemented in spite of how much the player base would love to see it.

I started spending on this after I started to get bored with Fire Emblem Heroes and pulled my budget from that and invested in this. Wasn't sure if I was going to commit to this game with the low drop rate of 5*s.

I played at launch and rerolled my account till I pulled Gilgamesh. played for a bit but stopped.

I just picked it up about 40 days ago when Scathach was on banner. I spent a wee bit and got her in 60 sq. Not bad. Made me play a bit more.

Then the next banner I got Raikou in 90 sq which officially converted me over. Sometimes, you just need a good jumpstart.

I also got Ozymandias in 120 sqs.

On the Guarantee Banner I got Florence Nightingale which was not a target, but I took it.

Since I got back into the game, I have spent over $500 bucks and have summoned Da Vinci on the London Singularity Banner while trying for and getting the original target Mordred who I did get about 60 sqs later.

I totally lucked out and did a bunch of multis on the Story Banner and landed Cu (alter) which blew me away (target was a caster or Jack the Ripper). I pull on the Story summon the next week and got NP2 Florence Nightingale (kinda bummed out given the number of units I don't own...)

So overall I am just now addicted. Targeting Waver, Merlin, and Jack the Ripper. I will also possibly go for any Jeanne (alter) banners or Sherlock Holmes when he comes out (So far from now).

I think my luck has decreased as I purchased sqs as the game just baited me in after Scathach and Raikou. I was like level 26 40 days ago and now 107.

I would still like 2030...

I will say I don't feel the best after blowing over $150 bucks and not getting your target unit, but its what I signed up for and my motto has been...spend (safely) until you get what you want. The next banner Jack the Ripper is on, I plan on spending till I get her. Hopefully not blowing all my extra change trying to do so.

I don't care for waifu banners and all that stuff as I am not a HUGE Fate fan. I have seen Zero, Stay/Night, and Apocrypha. So getting my favorite unit Gilgamesh at launch was a must and was also the reason I went after Mordred instead of Altera on the Singularity drops. The other units is just me doing research and trying to target "high performing/future proof units."

I said I would stop spending once I have a 5* in every category, but now I kinda want to get at least 2 in every category. :D

I started with NA when Halloween started. Though, before FGO, I hated Mobile games as I felt like they were all candy crush and all that what not.
However I had seen a lot of art made by fans for Fate, FGO included, so I thought I would give it a try. I had my heart dead set on Tamamo (Still do) and originally didn't plan on spending too much on it. Bam, 80$. Got Tamamo cat + tamamo (caster) in the same roll on the third attempt.

10 months later I have spent well over 2k, i'd be willing to say even 3k. 24 5* 30 4* several of the 4* MLB NP and several 5* at 3-4 NP level.
That being said, I am not bragging, so please don't take that as I am because I have spent a lot of money here. I justify it by the fact that I have put in a lot of time into the game. I truly enjoy grinding and all that such. However I don't believe in luck overall, but I do believe an account has some sort of luck factored in when creating it.

Who knows for sure.Thought there are certainly times ive regretted spending money, I always make sure it's money I can afford to spend.

Also, I spend more money on wiafu banners, and the amount I figured at the top was for me alone, not including my wife (Whom is also addicted)

Overall I’m ok with my p2p spending, normalling adding 25-50 a week, more on banners I really want. I started playing during rashomon and got shuten. Since then I’ve gotten plenty of five stars and units I want, though the times when you spend absurd amounts and not get a unit you want does sting.
For instance during this year anniversary for singularity drops I’m ashamed to say I dropped about $500 total from my bonus on the game to try and get alter saber and alter lancer, didn’t get either but managed to get np5 da Vinci and np2 Jeanne d’Arc. So it’s good and bad so long as you don’t dig into money needed for other things.

I came from Fire Emblem Heroes after spending a fair bit there but subsequently find the game becoming more of a chore than fun for me and I absolutely also hates the Heroes's IV concept despite the game being more forgiving in terms of its gacha. Also, I love seeing my characters in full high resolution representation in FGO (and the beautiful NP animations) rather than the chibi format in FEH.

So I started the game during the Waver event and I originally just wanted to do a roll for waver since everywhere was saying how good he is..but I ended up with a Orion after spending my first $50 on the gacha..(till today I have not gotten Waver).

Then during the Shuten and Sanzang event, I them respectively at 60 rolls and 1 SQ respectively which is probably the game's way of drawing me in I guess :( because my luck took a spin for the worst at the Scabath rate up where i spent like $300 without getting her at all even though i got a bunch of SRs by then. That was the real salty period for me.

Somehow the game probably pitied me and in the Raikou event, I got her in just 30 SQ and she remains my fav character till today,i.e she's the first character i will select in any battle I played since the day I drew her.

In the recent anniversary, I spent like almost $500 bucks trying to get Da Vinci and Cu Alter but did get both and yet ended up with Tesla x2, Ozy x2, Nightingale, Jeanne, Vald III, Altera, Altria Pendragon (Lancer), so I guess I cannot complain. Right now I am even contemplating resting my wallet for the upcoming summer girls summon because my 5 stars rooster is already fully filled and probably will only summon again during Merlin's banner.

All in all, I don't regret spending because I really enjoyed the game and the character arts and this game currently suits my lifestyle more than console games. I am even contemplating selling away my consoles because work commitments does not give me the luxury anymore to sit at the TV to play them.

Again, I think my advice is to budget and spend within your means and only if you enjoy the game and the FGO characters. Also, you must have a big heart to withstand the cruelty and (sometimes pleasant surprises) the gacha throws at you. Especially so if you came from other games such as FEH where there is a Pity gacha system.

I cam from FEH as well. Game just can't keep my interest these days. Content is so lacking. It's become a collection gacha. You spend money and pull awesome units for 30 minutes worth of content every 2 weeks. :/

I’d consider myself a partial P2P player. On one hand, I’m more than happy to drop money on banners I’m excited about, I mostly play F2P.

I started on the Japanese version of the game and then started again when the US version released. I’ve been playing for quite a long time and I’ve spent a total of $340 on FGO

Mostly it’s just me being happy to help out a game that takes up so much of my attention but it’s also, admittedly, a way to satisfy my weakness for gambling without bankrupting myself

That being said, if I told you how many of my 5 stars I got from single pull from free quarts, I doubt you’d believe it haha

I've been playing for just under 50 days, really started getting into it on my first week. It was during the Fate Zero event(I play KR FGO btw). I used to play another gacha game called Moria Saga which failed and I had been looking for something else to replace it ever since. That feeling of having a pocket full of rare waifus and husbandos and the nice distraction the game provides when I need it really appeals to me.

I've spent about 500$ on the game so far I think, give or take and I'll link the results below.
https://imgur.com/a/C78Jw8r

I think I'm a little more on the lucky side as some of my SSR servants have appeared out of the blue with a few tickets and single pulls. I've definitely actively bought and pulled for some of the rate up servants, Shuten Douji, Sanzang, and Scathach(Which cost me the most to pull, about $140). Sometimes I just look at how much SQ I have saved up and top it off to 30 to pull a random Story Summon in hopes I win the lottery and get my waifu Altera, I've not been successful. I don't think my luck has improved despite the amount I've spent. I believe it's just an illusion of rolling so many times with purchased SQ.

As for how much I plan to spend, I believe about $150 a month, and maybe more if I find the room. Right now it's Gacha hell in KR FGO, Class Summon coming soon, followed by Raikou, they're telling us we'll be reaching Babylon by the end of the year, Camelot isn't out yet so you can guess what kind of crazy pace we're going at here. Vid related, https://youtu.be/B5nelanh5Gs

I want to get Ozzy, Raikou, and possibly Altera from the Class Summon, so I can see about $100 going in for each of them. Even more if I'm unlucky, but that's alright. My wallet can manage to limp towards the end of the year until I get my various bonuses from work.

How this affects my other purchases? Honestly speaking, I really don't have any. I don't play many other games, and when you're ready to spend $100 on FGO for your waifu at the drop of a hat, spending a little more to buy some other game stops being a significant purchase.

I've accepted the fact that when I pay for SQ and rolls, I'm not paying for the servant, but the thrill of rolling for them. That mindset sort of mitigates the despair of not getting what I want. Thankfully getting them eventually is still worth the amount I invest, never have I really looked back and regretted spending that much for that servant.

This is like, the perfect game for someone with a job, not too much time or interest to invest in other games, a decent amount of disposable income, borderline gambling problems, and a love for waifus.
