Story quests, free quests, login bonuses, events, etc.
You can also spend friend points in the 1-3* gacha. Quartz is used for the 3-5* gacha.

You get new servants in the Summon tab.
You spend either Friend Points or Saint Quartz to summon Servants and Craft Essences randomly.
There are also some servants that you get in events, or from the main story.

You should only spend money when there a guarantee paid banner which is probably around June if their not following JP server. Fair warning, u have a low chance on getting a 4 star and 5 star servant unless ur luck is Ex Rank.
U get quart via login reward, maintenance, some campaign (sometimes), quest, master mission which u can trade the shard for saint quartz, and free mission quest. Also, if you partipate in event by tackling the main story they award u saint quartz sometimes.
Also, save up your summon ticket. U can buy it from the shop, if u don't spend any of ur summon ticket from the start you'll have around 65. It just a estimate.
