This is one I am kind of interested in seeing the answers to. I have a feeling that Nitocris may just sweep this one, but I’m not sure she should.

In the past choices, Crit heavy servants (granted Nursery is a caster so less effective) have usually won out. I know a lot of people love Nito as well but she isn’t the only AOE wave clearing caster. There’s a bunch of those and the death effect is a bad gimmick. She can charge her NP faster than anyone granted, but a lot of casters don’t have that problem and hit harder. Where as Nursery is a Crit based servants with some great skills. A high defense boost, a Debuff cleanse and a defense down off her NP. She can also charge her NP though not nearly as well as Nito. But do crits matter as much when coming from the caster class...

Guess I want to see if it’s Nito’s waifu status or if everyone does feel she is that good. I’m going to see how not voting goes as I guess my vote shouldn’t count as I’m choosing them. Though the point isn’t so much a competition. But I’ll see how it goes where I just spell out the reason for the match up and go from there.

Nitocris, mostly because I'm aware of the impact she has in JP right now. Even in the shadow of the quick meta Nitocris is one of the best farming servants at the moment, easily deleting two waves of enemies with her NP- the first with the help of an NP charge servant as long as she as a k-scope/imaginary element, then immediately charging it again with her rapid words skill.

Granted her utility against servants goes down compared to Nursery, as she has no crit damage steroid. Nevertheless, both being AoE casters, Nitocris has a powerful instant death niche that's great for clearing out mobs.

Nitocris is amazing and I bring her to a lot more than assassin fights because she is so good at wave clearing. Over 100% np battery, great np gain, and without attack buffs she can dish out ~20k damage at np2 to neutral targets that she misses instant death on. She is right up there with arash on wave clearing utility.

It's been a while since I played with nursery rhyme, but I wouldn't ever trade Nitocris for her.

AoE overall is not ideal for Casters. The damage mitigation cripples their damage potential and in Nursery's case, she may be equipped with a rather impressive Crit skill that allows her to soak up stars and dish out crit damage, she suffers from an inability to produce stars to fuel her attacks and is hindered by her Caster classing to maximize her damage output. However, her defense skill and NP recharge skill are still useful, with the ability to cleanse debuffs and heal for the latter.

Nitocris, on the other hand, I find to edge out due to her farming potential and how she can completely excel in what Nursery's NP specializes in. Granted, she hits as hard as a wet noodle and loses against Nursery in terms of her NP's sheer damage output, but the perk of her NP in the form of an AoE instant death effect is incredibly useful for farming. Furthermore, she possesses a skill to boost her RNG chances, resulting in one of the most consistent instant death effects in the game and with a triple Arts deck and Rapid Words of Divine, her NP is VERY spammable, to the point of absurdity with a Waver or Tamamo. She also possesses a debuff remover for herself, and this is tied to a Guts effect. Her glaring weakness is a complete uselessness against Servants, and is not suited to fight non-mob bosses in the least, unless she is fighting shadow servants, who can be vulnerable to her NP due to its high instant death rate.

I once brought her to the Dantes event on the Phantom quest, and she immediately cleared the second wave for me, shadow servant and all.

Nitocris is my vote, mostly due to how effective of a farmer she is. Nursery is a more suitable pick for Servant battles, but I'll go with the one who can work at a quicker rate.

(also, yes. she is very cute and I immediately loved her during the Halloween event with Brave Liz)

Simply because of how good she is at Wave clearing means I’ll be going with Nitocris.

Guess I'm in the minority on this one.

Like some of the other match-ups, I have both Nitocris and Nursery Rhyme. But as usefulness Nitocris is, I would rather have Nursery Rhyme between the two.

Both are Caster class and suffer from a low damage modifier. Both are heavy Arts-types so can use their NP more often especially in the right team. Both can heal themselves. Both can remove debuffs placed on them. Both can increase their NP gauge (though Nitocris does so by a wider margin). Both lack an attack buff to make up for their low stat and modifier (not counting Nursery's Crit damage buff). But that's where the similarities end.

Nitocris is one of the premier farmers due to her NP's death chance plus Witchcraft, which increases the death chance by 100% at max level. With the proper CE and/or support (Waver/Helena/Merlin), plus a bit of luck by getting an NPAA chain, she can use her NP repeatedly on consecutive turns, especially with Rapid Words giving her a +120% at max level. She also possesses a Guts skill tied to her debuff remover to help her stay alive on harder quests.

Nursery Rhyme, on the other hand, lands in the strange niche of an Arts crit Caster. Self-modification boosts her star weight and crit damage by a fair amount (600% and 50% respectively) and Morph grants a 30% Def buff (with an additional 30% on the turn it is used) while boosting her resistance to debuffs. The Meanwhile skill boosts her NP Gauge by 40% at max level while simultaneously healing her, adding to her durability, and removing debuffs if her Morph fails to stop it. And in addition to the damage, her NP lowers the enemy's Def and has a change to lower their NP charge (60%-100% chance based on Overcharge).

But as useful as Nitocris is for farming, I think there are lots of others who cna do the job just as well. The instant death would only be useful for farming high HP mobs but I've seen it fail a lot against silver enemies. And against Servants and many bosses, she's not nearly as useful due to their low death rate. Even if I use her to clear the waves leading to the boss, I would be left with two unpleasant choices. Keeping her at the front lines where she she won't do much good (due to her selfish kit and near useless instant death), or using the plugsuit to swap her out (which means wasting a tactical piece in the ability to switch my Servants around). She cannot support her team and even if the team was built around her, she is simply not built to fight bosses even with a class advantage.

Nursery Rhyme would be my choice if it came down to harder battles. Her Self-modification and Morph both last three turns with a 5 turn cooldown. With the right setup and a team to support her, she can hit fairly hard. I've run her with a Cas Gil/Tamamo team and she can manage to deal six digits of damage in a single turn with a full range of buffs and hers and Cas Gil's Def down debuff on the enemy. Among the 4* Casters, she is the only one focused more as an offensive unit rather than defensive or support. She may not be the best choice for a DPS, but she is fairly underestimated in my book.

Her debuff removal is actually on her batttery and heal, the defense up only increases debuff resistance up (10-30%)

Nitocris definitely. As my Caldea has matured, and I have moved from ascending my Servants to leveling skills, farming has become more and more important and there are few farmers as good as her. With her first two skills at level 8 I can reliably clear the first two waves of most nodes and while her NP damage is very low (even at NP5 - post interlude), she can spam it with minimal support, letting her do some good damage with class advantage. Lastly Nito is very self sufficient and needs little to no support to do her thing. Nursery on the other hand can hit like an angry dump truck, but requires at team built around her. Nursery is good at what she does, but Nito is one of the best at what she does!

I don't have Nito, but I wouldn't trade my Nursery Rhyme for any other 4* Caster. She was one of the first servants I got to 10/10/10, and she was the first one I grailed.

Caster is a class that frankly doesn't do much damage, but I've paired Nursery with Waver, and her crit up skill, and done over 100k damage with her Buster card, and something like 60-80k on a quick or arts crit- more than I've hit with any other caster outside Illya or Sanzang's NP. Her NP charge isn't as good as Nito's, but it does plenty, and her defense up, paired with her heal, is great on challenge quests with difficult content.

If you take CEs into consideration, I feel Nursery has more good options. Another Ending for arts and crits, Knights Dignity for crits (defense down doesn't matter since she can boost hers back up), Gem Magecraft for crits, Kscope or Imaginary for instant NP, 2030 for generating stars, Formalcraft for Arts, Black Grail for NP damage (HP loss doesn't matter since she can heal). Seems like Nito would mostly benefit from KScope or Imaginary (though to lesser extent, since her NP charge is too good and a bunch of it would be wasted) and maybe Formalcraft. Her big draw is instant death, so extra damage from Black Grail would (maybe?) go unused, and she doesn't have any star gathering for crits.

To summarize with new points: f2p might be better with Nito- lower rarity CEs would be fine for her, since her draw is instant 100% NP and instant death. She farms fine and that's what much of the game is. But if you have the better rare CEs like Formcraft, Black Grail or Another Ending, go Nursury Rhyme.

Nitocris easily I love her for the farming

With the available NP spamming and survivability skill, I choose the Nitocris though.

I have neither, but based on borrowed supports I would rather have Nursery Rhyme.

Nitocris is great at farming but if it is against enemies that instant death has little to no chance of working, her damage seems pretty weak. NR, on the other hand will put out “respectable” damage on assassin mobs.

Farming is a major part of the game, but anyone can farm and having more time between AP refills just isn’t as important to me as defeating enemies who pose an actual threat.

EDIT: and no sooner do I post this do I get Nitocris trying for the mash CE

I feel a little torn, cuz I do like Nito, but I feel Rhyme edges it out for me cuz she's more useful in harder content. Rhyme's defense up makes her harder to take down than Nito, and the fact that her crit damage up skill includes a star weight adds a lot of damage to her. She also has a potential drain on her NP, which can help with longer fights. Nito is great for farming, but that's all she can really do. The biggest flaw for rhyme is that she can't generate her own stars, but 2030 exists as a CE, along with characters like Hans and Merlin, who both make stars incredibly easily.

Basically, While Nito is a god at farming, it's all she can do. She's next to useless when faced with a servant as an enemy, and While rhyme's Np may not do more damage, it has added utility that makes her a better unit, if you had to choose between having only one of them.

Nitrocris without doubt. In a game where most of the activity is farming you want to have all the servants that make your life easier, and Nitocris is one of those servant.
Give her a scope and this girl will clear 2 waves of trash. Very useful farming servant.

I’m glad to see there has been support for NR here and there. For me, this one really goes to “can have only one” factor.

I mostly use Nitocris for farming the dailies, as on harder quests the death rate isn’t reliable and her NPs damage isn’t anything impressive. There are enough caster class servants that can NP their first turn if equipped with a kaleidoscope or imaginary around. I’ll go to Helena, DaVinci or other casters for farming as well. So while Nito is very good at farming, she can be replaced easily enough. While Rhymes niche as a Crit caster may not be useful as much, she is still the one to go to for it. There are less servants like her, especially in that class.

Man you keep misspelling Nightingale it triggers me a little ._.

I dont own either of them but im leaning towards Nitocris. There are simply more instances where you would choose Nitocris as FGO is mostly a farming game. Yes there will be instances where you would rather have Nursery but those are few and far between.

People may argue that Nursery can crit hard but she is offset with the built in 0.9 damage multiplier for caster class and there are other 4* servants than can crit just like her without having to worry about that.

Some may also argue that there are other farming servants besides Nitocris but this is where the death gimmick actually becomes good for her. Outside of events the only places we can farm mats are either the dailies or free quests, in both cases you'll see plenty of mobs vulnerable to death.

Lol i thought Nitocris would beat Nursery so bad this time, my Caster Gilgamesh and Helena can do better job than the mentioned Caster here.
My vote absolutely goes to Nitocris, Art Casters are better for NP spamming and supporting but overall it's still depend on how we use them. For Assassin boss slayer, better pick for Berserkers unless you've got one or two SSR Casters or use a decent leveled Medea.
I better pick friends Saberlot, Chloe, Emiya or OG Nero or even my own Waver with Knights Dignity or 2030 as an Art Crit DPS.

Each servants have their own strengths and weakness so deal with it.

Their best abilities :
- Nitocris is one of the best Farmer, good back to back NP spam potentials, decent survivability, good NP gain.
- Nursery for Farming, good back to back NP spam potential and Art Crits, decent survivability, good NP gain.

Weakness :
- Nitocris, low NP damage + Death chance effective only for enemies with silver rarities and below + almost useless for boss fight + Caster 0.9 atk modifier.
- Nursery Rhyme, Crit star reliant + Caster 0.9 atk modifier + support reliant/selfish + low star gen ( Crit based servants only ) + below average boss killing kit.

Both is a pretty good servant, there are better unit for Art Crit servants unless you only have Nursery as your go to unit it's still fine.

Overall performance, Nitocris win.

Bonus, my Caster Gilgamesh and Helena compared to Nitocris and Nursery, here's their stat :

* Gilgamesh : good for farming, High NP gain ( base NP gain + Art buff ), high NP damage ( Atk UP + Art UP, next turn Atk UP + Art Up + Def down ), spammable NP, strong and consistent Art servant, Art supp and Art Crit supp, can generate lots of Crit stars. You can bring him almost everywhere, he will shine the best when you're using Art teams.
* Helena : good for farming, good NP gain ( Art Buffs + NP battery ), High NP damage ( Art buff + NP Strength Up + 50 %, next turn Art buff + def down ), Spammable NP, tactical support, can generate Crit stars. You can bring her everywhere, as long as it is for shorter battles and tactical.

Both can support a team, good for farming, can spam their NPs, pretty good NP damage and gameplay wise both is totally better compared to Nursery and Nitocris.

Another bonus, another Art farming team and Crit team :
- Nitocris Kaleidoscope + Helena Imaginary Element/Kaleidoscope + Paracelsus Magical Girl of Sapphire/Little Halloween Devil.
Fate Extella MC + 50 % Art card buffs/Harry Potter MC.
- Nursery Rhyme HNS/Crit Ces + Helena Crit star gen CEs + Cas Gil/Hans Crit star gen CEs , Caesar Golden Carp.
Plug suit MC.

They're the tools, we're their pilots or their brain.

Id prolly go for Nursery Rhyme this time, her ability to soak up stars will most likely lead to back to back NP spam which will be on par if not a bit to a lesser degree to Nitocris which is basically what Nitocris' main charm is (NP spam) and with enough crit boost her crits can even reach to the hundred thousands with a proper suppport *cough merlin**cough waiver*

She's also quite tanky due to her skill sets having heals and defense up; so to sum it up a greater damage potential + general tankyness enough to give her a ticket to boss fights is why i voted for her

Nitocris is extremely great in farming anyway for the lower death resist mobs(who wouldnt want aoe death for 2 consecutive turns lol)

I'll put in a vote for Nitocris, her death effects can be very nice in the right circumstances and if you don't focus on those the fact that she can still instant NP while using a Black Grail, Heavens Feel, or other pure damage CE makes her damage quite decent even without support. She is also highly survivable between her guts and the healing on her death skill, so she can last for quite awhile even when she isn't an ideal pick for doing damage.

I admittedly have not used Nursery Rhyme quite as much (only got her recently), but I can't see her beating out Nitocris in the AoE niche ultimately.
