How are you all planning to do the CQ? I’m going to turtle team (Tamamo, Waver, Merlin) my way through, with Kuro, Heracles, and Doggo in the back. Not Jeanne bc I don’t have her, and I need to use the support Merlin :(
I ended up with Merlin x2 and JAlter... JAlter died round 2 and I ended up using Merlin x 2 with Mash up to round 6 (Amakusa NP killed my forward team and Waver + Merlin + a level 1 filler just didn't have any oompf - got rid of Amakusa and then used command seals to bring it all back)
Maybe your Jalter or Merlin is still low level skill, I used team like you too, my Jalter have 3 lv10 skills, Merlin have 2 lv10 and lv9 second skill. Jalter use Holy Night Supper, Merlin have His Rightful Place (I don't have 2030), Friend's Merlin is 3 lv10 skill with 2030.
Take 30 turns to finish all
Used Gilgamesh, Hans, Merlin, Nightingale, Medea Lily and Mashu. Everything geared towards keeping Gilgamesh alive with Nightingale able to deal with the lancer homunculi.
Still ended up needing command seals, but hey. 3 tickets is 3 tickets.
I started with my max Jalter, a friends Waver and my max Nightingale. Fergus ended up focusing Waver with a passion and took him out. In came my Jack. Gilles then ended up focusing my Jack down. After that Mash came in. Mash, Nightingale & Jalter we’re absolutely untouchable. Everytime a challenge quest rolls around Mash shows me how OP she is. Being able to bide your time and recover during non dangerous waves is important. Especially the Jeanne waves. Leave her alive and recover/ charge up NPs. Nightingale with Little Halloween devil allowed me to get her NP off a lot. Although she is maxed out so her heal skill is also huge and on a 5 turn cd. Otherwise Mash and her broken NP gain allowed me to spam her NP with NPAA brave chains, & with her defense skill XD we couldnt be touched. Plus the attack up from her NP is huge when stacked. 60 turns flat but we did it, no SQ or seals. Still had Hans in the back too. As stated, the biggest thing is recovering and prepping for waves when you safely can. I really thought it’d be tougher but then again I am blessed with Nightingale and Jalter. It can be repeated and its a cheap quest so I may repeat it with lower rarity servants.
TLDR; bring Mash, bring a healer.
It took me 61 turns but I managed to make all my way through this hell without using CS. I used Hans, Gorgon, and a friend's Merlin.
I'm surprised of the durability of the team, I expected someone to die sooner or later, but that happened until the end when Hans died just before Gorgon finished off Dantes.
I felt pathetic using my Merlin and a support Merlin so I used this team as a challenge, took me 71 turns and I only lost Mash and Chloe.
Chloe got me all the way to Jeanne and Gilles and Nero stepped in to band-aid my team
Used Support Waver with 2030 and was more than enough for a great support
For Amakusa I quickly used Nero’s NP spamming and waver’s NP to stall as quickly as possible and managed to kill him before he sent it out after that Jeanne took an eternity so I used that time to heal
-The FGO community chastises those who rely on Merlin and support Merlin since it makes challenge quests easier which contradicts the meaning of challenge quests. They're meant to make you play tactically in handling dozens of servants and it really feels rewarding once you do and win.
And that's why i love that the CQ is repeatable, i'm aware that Merlin is broken but i never used him myself seriously until now so i wanted so see his potential in a challenge quest.
Having done that now i'll test different servants without relying on Jalter or Merlin.
You need one dps for amakusa, he can screw your front line with his np, i use artoria archer with leisurely strolling and support merlin to kill him as fast as possible
Wow, so many jalter died in wave 2... Maybe dw do something, because it happen to me too. 3 hit crit fergus in wave 2 is real and always targeting jalter
I was able to win by using cu alter, waver and Merlin. Took about 46 turns but was able to win without too much trouble.
I used musashi, hans, and friend merlin front line with mash, ishtar, and enkidu back line. It took 3 command seals and 100+ turns but it worked for the limited number of servants I had.
