Overview
- The final encounter of the Lostbelt is nigh! This encounter can be difficult due to the hard-hitting nature of the Tree's AoE attacks, along with Ashwatthama's short NP bar. However, it is also possible to solo this encounter (see video links).
- The Tree starts with two passives that increase NP Damage Resist and DEF by 50% each, although it sheds these passives progressively with each HP break. These make the Tree quite hardy initially despite its Berserker classing being weak to most classes.
- Be wary that Ashwatthama is immune to Mental Debuffs, which includes Charm (which can be important to keep in mind if running certain Lancer DPS, such as Parvati).
- At battle start, the enemy Master will also permanently buff Ashwatthama's ATK and Buster effectiveness.
- After breaking the first HP bar for either enemy, the enemy Master uses their second Command Spell and applies Target Focus and ATK up on Ashwatthama. The Target Focus lasts a whole five turns.
- After breaking the second HP bar for either enemy, the enemy Master uses their final Command Spell which charges Ashwatthama's NP bar to MAX and further increases their ATK.
- The Tree's 1st break will shed their NP Damage Resist buff in exchange for passively gaining 1 extra NP Gauge every turn.
- The Tree's 2nd break sheds the DEF buff, and further gains 1 additional NP Gauge every turn, effectively charging 3 per turn.
- Both bosses cannot bypass Evade/Invincibility, although the Tree of Emptiness can remove buffs from an enemy with a skill.
Team Recommendations
- Due to the Taunt effect after first break lasting five turns, Masters may be better served by bringing an AoE DPS option so that the tree can be dealt with more swiftly, given it is arguably the greater threat with its own AoE NP, while Ashwatthama's NP is ST.
- Lancer AoE DPS are great, given their offensive class advantage against both bosses. Karna, Ereshkigal, and Parvati all are great options, although any Lancer AoE DPS works. Elisabeth Bathory and Altria Lancer Alter are both notable for being able to Ignore DEF with their NPs.
- ST Lancer Options are still great, with Scathach, Brynhild, Enkidu, and Tamamo Lancer being strong candidates for having trait bonus effects in this battle.
- Bringing a backline Foreigner DPS Servant can also work combined with the ST Lancer Option, where Ashwatthama will likely be taken care of by the time the Foreigner comes out. Mysterious Heroine XX has bonus damage against "Threat to Humanity" trait enemies, which fits the bill for the Tree, although other Foreigners are still a decent pick due to their better ability to survive the Berserker's onslaught.
- Bringing a standard offensive / NP Gauge supports for the given card color of the DPS will also help burst the boss down more quickly, with Merlin, Skadi, and Waver all being excellent choices.
- A Taunt Servant or source of Evade / Invincibility for the party are useful to Tank Aswhatthama's NP, which fires after his NP automatically charges to max after second break (of either boss). Mash, Leonidas, or Georgios could fulfill the taunt role. Jinako can technically fill the role, although she is more expensive Cost-wise. Merlin can also provide the party with Invincibility as well.
