Overview
- This stage features two bosses, namely Scathach=Skadi (3 HP bars) and Valkyrie (2 HP bars). While both bosses are alive, Valkyrie can perform two moves per turn, while Skadi only does one.
- Skadi starts out with a fully charged NP Gauge, but outside of this and the usual effect-on-Break mechanics, there are no especially notable gimmicks in this stage. It should be noted, however, that Skadi’s Break effects (AoE Stun on first Break, and full NP Charge to both bosses on second Break) are considerably more powerful compared to Valkyrie’s (increased Critical Rate for both bosses).
- Both bosses retain access to their normal skills and NP. This can potentially cause a scenario where Skadi and Valkyrie both use their NP Charge skills on the same turn, therefore allowing a Valkyrie with only 2 NP bars filled to use NP instantly. In general, the possibility of this happening is quite low, but stunning either Servants on such turns will help ensure the smoothness of a run.
- The recommended strategy is to take out Valkyrie as soon as possible, as her Sure Hit AoE NP makes her the greater threat of the two. While Skadi’s Break effects are powerful, their impact is limited without the one-shot threat Valkyrie poses. The best scenario is to beat Valkyrie before Skadi’s first HP bar is depleted, as the AoE Stun can put a rather annoying delay to the process.
- After disposing of Valkyrie, it is just a matter of outlasting Skadi, which shouldn’t be too difficult considering her moderate-at-best damage and non-damaging NP.
Team Recommendations
- Virtually any decent damage dealing Saber can be used for this stage, but those with either Invincibility Ignore or Sure Hit will have the advantage of being able to bypass the enemies’ Evasions. Miyamoto Musashi is a powerful option for this reason, as well as Suzuka Gozen, Ryougi Shiki (Saber) and Frankenstein(Saber) (the latter having buff removal instead).
- Damage supports prove very valuable in the early phase of the fight, especially those with the capability to charge the damage dealer’s NP Gauge. Servants such as Merlin or Zhuge Liang will greatly increase the smoothness of the run, as will alternatives such as Helena Blavatsky and William Shakespeare.
- Due to Valkyrie’s NP’s built-in Sure Hit, party-wide Invincibility becomes the primary means of defending (outside of Defense buff stacking, which requires more specific stalling compositions). However, having them is not required as long as Valkyrie is dealt with quickly.
- While a proper frontline should be able to handle most of the fight well enough, it is recommended to bring along a Rider damage dealer as backup, preferably those with single-target NP and sustain, such as Sakata Kintoki (Rider) or Ozymandias. Alternatively, Last Man Standing Servants such as Heracles can also be used.
