Overview
-
Named after the two levels of Buddhist Hell, the infernal duo of Rider Minamoto no Raikou and Berserker Shuten Douji provides the latest challenge to Chaldea Masters and their trusty Miyamoto Musashi on their journey through Shimousa.
-
Similar to most boss battles of Shimousa, Masters are forced to deploy NPC Miyamoto Musashi (83, first two skills) on the frontline.
-
For Masters who field all Servant classes, this quest is already pretty hard, but for Masters who can only field Knight-class Servants, this quest is very difficult.
-
The gimmick of this encounter is to decide whether to pursue Shuten's NP-Draining capabilities first or Raikou's Critical-draining capabilities.
-
On Break, Shuten becomes immune to debuffs and inflicts a massive Debuff Resistance Down, while Raikou gains a very powerful Critical Damage Up.
-
While Raikou packs a more offensive set of gimmicks and skill set, Shuten Doji is the most dangerous. Not only can her ever-dangerous teamwide charm shut down the entire team, she also has a slew of debuffs on her Noble Phantasm, while her basic attacks do very high damage courtesy of her class.
-
Between her Eternal Arm Mastery, Noble Phantasm and her 5-turn unremovable Critical Chance buff upon Break, Minamoto no Raikou can decimate unprepared team with continuous Critical Hits.
-
While stalling can work, an aggressive strategy to remove Shuten Douji ASAP works best.
Team Recommendations
-
For DPS, both AoE and Single Target DPS can work for this fight.
-
Shuten Doji and Minamoto no Raikou share multiple traits (Female, Heaven or Earth, Divine, Weak to Enuma Elish), thus Servants who can exploit these traits make excellent choices.
-
In addition, Shuten also has the Evil, Dragon and Demonic trait, while Raikou has Riding.
-
As neither boss have an NP Charge nor Sure Hit/Pierce Invincibility, as well as require the same amount of NP Charges to NP, Evasion and Invincibility are incredibly useful to survive their onslaught.
-
That said, Shuten can potentially charm the entire team before her NP!
-
For Masters ignoring the Knight bonus, a powerful Assassin is an excellent DPS choice. With full damage advantage against both, an Assassin in the backline can especially clean up the encounter if the frontline falls. Jack the Ripper is an obvious candidate, considering her Anti-Female bonus damage to threaten both bosses.
-
As both their Noble Phantasms deal AoE damage, Servants with teamwide protection such as Jeanne d’Arc, Merlin, Tristan and David, are excellent.
-
Shuten cannot be impaired after Break, but NP Drains are still effective at delaying her.
-
Taunt is another excellent tool to deal with Minamoto no Raikou increased Critical Chance, ensuring the main DPS is not harmed for several turns.
-
While Musashi can be Order Changed to the backline, she is quite effective at taking out Shuten if Masters draw a good NP Gain chain and unleash her NP in time.
Bonus Bond Points Advice
- For Masters wanting to maximize Bond Points gained, consider offensive Knight-class Servants with Anti-Trait damage/effects such as Gilgamesh, Karna, Nikola Tesla, Enkidu, Oda Nobunaga and Scathach to be the main damage dealer. Siegfried, Rama, Tawara Touta, and Vlad III (Extra) are Servants with powerful anti-traits against one of the targets.
- With only David and Tristan capable of granting full party protection, Masters wishing to rely on their protection should either delay Raikou on NP turn (Shuten should be immune), or kill Shuten before she NPs.
- Otherwise, Masters can rely on Personal Evasion/Invincibility.
- Either way, rushing Shuten's HP bar is ideal. Starting NP Gauge, Anti-trait and Buff stacking is the way to go for this route.
- Order Change is great for stacking additional damage buff as without a CE, Musashi needs too much time to build up her NP Gauge normally.
- Consider having someone like Cu Chulainn or Nero in a last man standing role.
