Overview
- This Challenge Quest remains unchanged from the original run; the guide below is largely the same as the original, with the exception of updates to the Quick Servant recommendation table for roster updates.
- Face off against Fuuma Evil-Wind Kotarou in the Las Vegas Summer 2021 challenge quest! This quest can be challenging due to the debuffs that Kotarou can inflict, as well as his short 3-bar NP Gauge and AoE NP. However, the fight is possible to solo with some Servants (see video links).
- Bring Damage Bonus CE: Given Kotarou has a high amount of HP (totaling over 2.5 Million across 3 break bars), bringing the event damage CE, Midsummer Memories, is a good idea to help burst him down quickly. Equip it on your DPS of choice (or have it on your Friend Support if they will be your DPS).
- Debilitating Debuffs: Kotarou will start the battle by randomly sealing one of Arts/Buster/Quick for all frontline Servants for 3 turns and randomly NP or Skill Seal the frontline for 3 turns as well, which can make it difficult to quickly take him down at the beginning without any Debuff Clear support.
- Bonus Damage vs Confusion: The debuff inflicted by Kotarou's NP, Confusion, will also make the inflicted ally take 50% more damage from Kotarou via his passive buff.
- Shadow Clone no Jutsu: Each time Kotarou has his HP bar broken, if no shadow clone exists on the field, he will create a ~238k HP clone. The shadow clone will frequently use a skill that charges all enemies' NP Gauge by 1, and the clone can unleash a full AoE NP of his own. However, the shadow clone will automatically disappear if the original Kotarou is defeated.
- Stun Skill after 1st break: After breaking Kotarou's first HP bar, he will start randomly using a skill that can stun a single frontline Servant for 1 turn while increasing their Star Gather Rate by 3000%, forcing the stunned Servant to pull most Critical Stars available.
- Nullify Buff after 2nd break: Upon breaking Kotarou's second HP bar, he inflicts Nullify Buff / Buff Block on ALL Servants including the backline for 2 times, while also decreasing their Max HP by 3,000. As a small benefit, he will increase your Critical Stars by 10.
Team Recommendations
- ST Caster / Class Advantage DPS - Masters will want to bring a solid class-advantage DPS option, whether it be a Caster, Berserker, or Alter Ego Servant. Xuanzang Sanzang is notable for being able to provide the entire party with a turn of Debuff Immunity, which is a decent option before 2nd break to prevent the Nullify Buff effect. Murasaki Shikibu can also do this, although she is an AoE option (she is still viable as DPS if properly supported).
- Midsummer Memories CE - Equipping this on the DPS (preferably MLB) will provide up to +200% Damage during the encounter, which will help take Kotarou down swiftly.
- Debuff Clear Support - Given the debilitating debuffs that Kotarou inflicts (particularly the card seal and skill/NP seal at the start of the encounter, plus the random Stun he may do after first break), it is generally a good idea to bring a Servant that can cleanse debuffs on demand. Saint Martha, Asclepius, Caster of Okeanos, and Medea are some options. If planning to place them in the front line, consider bringing a Debuff Immunity CE such as Vessel of the Saint so that the Debuff Clear Servant doesn't get an unfortunate Skill Seal at battle start.
- Party Invincibility/Evade - Kotarou's NP will deal AoE damage, and will be a frequent threat given his short 3-segment NP bar. If not planning to vanquish him within 3 turns (or even as a backup plan), bringing a source of party Invincibility / Evade such as Merlin, Skadi, or Jeanne d'Arc may be helpful. Having a hard defensive option on the DPS is also helpful, although not necessary.
- Damage Support - In order to enhance the DPS's performance and bring Kotarou down quickly, damage supports for the DPS's card color of choice are helpful as always. The usual suspects of Merlin, Scathach-Skadi, Tamamo, and Waver are all excellent options.
