Which servant should i roll ?

Hello everyone :)

I have a question about rolling a future servant.

If the NA summoning campaigns follow JP summoning campaigns, some servants I really want will be available :
Ishtar, Musashi and King Hassan.

But there is a big problem with that : I cannot save SQ for both of them, due to their release date... (November for Ishtar and Jannuary for Musashi and King Hassan on JP server)

So the question is : Regarding to my team (I add my servants on my profil), which servant is recommended ?

I know that personal preferences are a major criteria when rolling servants but I love both of them, so, I need your help \o/

Note that, thanks to the support system, I can pick servant like Merlin for support if necessary. It's the reason why I don't want to roll servant like Merlin.

Thank you for your help :D

Your preference is all that matters.
You can't compare the usability of Servants if they're not from the same class and even then, they can fulfil different roles which may have an impact if you want to roll for them or not, if all you're concerned with is the gameplay aspect.

King Hassan is a buster type Assassin with instant death immunity and a pretty sizeable ST NP. Musashi is a ST Saber that has a unique skill that doubles her hit count for them dank stars or NP charge (or damage) when you really need it. Ishtar is, in my opinion, one of the best AoE Archers with crit/damage support.

Your servant list has Scathach Assassin and she's very good at what she does (AoE Rider clears). Good for star generation and Rider solo damage if you need it. And Shuten. ST Assassin might be needed for boss runs (if you don't have Jack).

You already have Emiya who has good damage and support via Interludes/Strengthenings. And Chloe, who is basically a welfare version of Squirtoria (Summer Artoria), that's a 4 star and NP5 off the bat.

Sabers are a tough class since there are no Sabers below 3 stars.
But you have ST Rama that is very good against Demonic enemies.

If i were to give you my recommendation, i would have to be biased since my list would be Ishtar = Musashi > King Hassan. Since we're talking about 5 star servants, unless you're ready to spend quartz or just lucky (unless your name is Cu), you should manage your expectations on their first ever banners.

Thank you for your response :)

I think I will go for Ishtar first.

For Assassin boss run, I can pick Jack in the support slot, since I have Waver for support and Minamoto for dealing damage.

Thank you again \o/
May the RNGsus be on your side ^^

From a purely gameplay perspective, you seem to be lacking a strong ST assassin, so King Hassan is probably most useful for you. The good thing about him is that his banner is last out of those 3, so you'd have more time to save for him.

As for the other two, you have Rama as your ST buster saber, (Musashi is this) and Emiya as your AOE archer (Ishtar). That said, Ishtar is quite a lot better than Emiya from what I know, and their roles are different enough that you could comfortably use them for different things (emiya is mostly crit-based while Ishtar relies on pure attack buffs, so she's more consistent). Ishtar is also a great farming servant, so if friend points matter to you at all, putting her in your support slot would likely get you more of them.

From a purely gameplay perspective, I'd say King Hassan > Ishtar > Musashi.

Thank you for your response :D

Mmmh I'm thinking about King Hassan at first since I really lack of good ST Assassin, just like you said (Pick Jack in support slot was, for me, the only option).

But, is he really good at dealing damage ?
When I found this servant, most of people saids that due to his Assassin class and his 0.9x multiplier, he's not good as other Buster oriented servant and his insta-kill on his NP is not good at all.
But when I see his skill, he is pretty strong with a good buster up, atk/def/hp up and his awesome EX guts skill (5K HP at lv 10 ... Wow).
This is very complicated ...

Yeah it is a tough choice, I agree. It seems to me, from seeing your previous responses, that you have a slight preference for Ishtar and Musashi over King Hassan. If that's the case, go for them.

However, to answer your question in more detail, you're right that King Hassan's role as a damage dealer is a bit weird. The 0.9 assassin damage modifier does hurt his damage a little, but not as much as you might think: for example, archers have a modifier of 0.95, and it really doesn't affect them too much. Gilgamesh is considered one of the best damage dealers regardless. The servant just needs a good enough kit to make it so their modifier doesn't impact them much.

Also, when looking at damage output, people tend to compare servants with others in their own class and among assassins, King Hassan's damage is one of the best (Jack is arguably as good) - when paired with Merlin though, no assassin can match his damage output as he is the only buster assassin in the game.

That said, you're right that when you look at things more generally, his damage output won't be as high as damage options in other classes, like Musashi. Also, you're right that his damage isn't his only strong point, and that his skills are good too. They are arguably why most people like him (other than his design). They make him straight up the hardiest assassin in the game. His guts is the best in the game and gives him just under half his health back, and protection of faith EX gives him a TON of buffs with no drawback. Debuffing is common in tougher content, so the debuff resist from this skill is actually pretty handy. Evening bell also comes with a 50% boost to his buster card damage, so he can hit very hard when that skill is up.

If I'm not considering your servant lineup and just looked at things extremely generally, Musashi has a higher damage cap than King Hassan, but King Hassan can generally survive for longer. One point of note though is that Musashi is better equipped to deal with challenge quests because her skills counter a lot of gimmicks that pop up in them. Musashi is probably the more useful option in slightly more cases, but King Hassan is more unique - there is not another buster assassin in this game as far as I know.

As for King Hassan's weaknesses, other than the 0.9 damage modifier, his kit with 3 buster cards also limits him more than helps him imo. His base NP and star gen are both excellent, but because his deck is so full of busters his overall NP gen and star gen is inconsistent as a result. And you're right, his instant death really doesn't amount to much. It's not that his instant death is worse than anyone else's, in fact his is one of the better ones. Its problem is that it's limited to his NP, which you would really only be using on bosses, which all have extremely high resistance to instant death. It'd work pretty well on weaker enemies, but honestly there's not much point to that.

In the end it's really up to you, but like I said, judging by your response to the previous poster, I get the impression you slightly favour Ishtar and Musashi, and that's fine. The most common advice anyone ever gives is to roll for who you like most, regardless of their gameplay value. Considering how good the servants are is really just secondary, since this game can be beaten with pretty much anything.

EDIT: Okay OP sorry this is such a huge wall of text lol didn't realise it'd gotten so big.
TL;DR: Just go for who you like best. No need to overthink it :)

Ha ha ha, no problem for the wall of text. It's very useful since I get, thanks to you, more knowledge about the game (specially in Servant I like ^^).

Well, to be honest, when I see King Hassan in Camelot, the first thing I said was "WOW O_O". So I check if he can be summoned and yes, he is a servant \o/. Then I check when he will be released and start to save SQ for him.

But later, I realized that two other banner will be released close to his banner... And then, I cry. A lot. Ha ha ^^

I will probably roll for Ishtar first if I can (Due to her banner who come first).
I can roll for Musashi later, because she had another banner later in the next year (if NA server follow JP server of course).

Have you any idea of the number SQ needed to safe a specific roll ?
Even if it's only RNG and I have to pray the RNGsus to be generous !

In case you didn't know, all three of them have another rate-up sometime in the future, though I forget how far forward. As for how many SQ are needed for a safe roll, that depends on your definition of safe. Assuming all the chances of getting servants that dw has told us is correct, you can use this formula:

1 - (0.993)^X, where X is the number of times you roll (number of saint quartz divided by 3).

This formula should give you the probability of getting at least one copy of the rate-up servant. As an indicator, 300 quartz would give you about a 50% chance. I can't guarantee that it'll be 100% right since no one actually knows the algorithm that the game devs use to determine what you get, but it should be a good enough indicator.

Good luck, may RNGsus bless you ^^

Haha good point, forgot about her. I thought I was forgetting something. She is still AOE though. Not a bad thing, just makes her a less effective boss killer.
