So, I'm trying to figure out what caster I should set for my default / non-event support setup, to maximize friend points. I realize none of these options are the best, but still. My best options:
- Merlin lv.90 NP1 2/1/4
- Da Vinci lv.90 NP1 6/6/6
- Medea lv.80 (grailed) NP5 8/8/4
Merlin is the best support caster obviously but I have zero pages so it'll be a while before I can get his skills to 10/10/10, and I feel like barely anyone is gonna use mine on support when nearly everyone else has him 10/10/10.
Da Vinci would probably be a good alternative since she's SSR? But I also don't know how useful a selfish AoE caster is in regular usage.
Medea is a good ST NP option, but even with a good CE the NP damage isn't super high and I think she's ok otherwise.

- Heaven's Feel 40/40
- Chaldea Lunchtime MLB 40/100
- Divine Banquet MLB 22/80

Still go for Merlin, probably with Prisma Cosmos so he generates even more NP per turn. Merlin is still extremely valuable for his NP and Prisma Cosmos helps him build up a little faster. K-scope is also a good option.
You're right that competition is harsh since most people have their Merlin at 10/10/10, but since FGO friend lists are finicky, sometimes they don't show up, and a low-level Merlin is better than no Merlin at all.
From what I can tell, most people sort their friend list by level, then pick the best thing they find at the top. Silvers/Bronzes almost never get used, since most people already have them. That said, go with either Merlin or Da Vinci. Try them both and see if you can get a handle on how often they are used (normally I'd say Merlin but you are right that there are so many 10/10/10 ones so the competition's pretty stiff).
If you put Merlin, go with lunchtime, cosmos or his rightful place.
If Da Vinci, black grail, Heaven's feel or Kscope are probably best since she's used for farming.
Get Merlin's skills to 10/10/10. I have Da Vinci and Medea Lily max skills and nobody cares abt them unless there's an event where they're quite useful. Look at ur friends support list and see who they're lacking. For now, I think it's better to put Da Vinci with Projection / Formalcraft since filling her NP gauge is not a problem for her.
My Merlin is 8/7/8 and lv 72 (I'll max him next super success rate up) , he didn't get a lot of use till I put MLB Lunchtime on him, but now he's probably gotten me more FP than the rest of my servants combined. Only 12/60 of my friends have him on support, so that may be a factor.
I doubt anyone will borrow a silver servant when there are better options.
