Tips on making Angra viable?

I am aware Angra is a terrible servant, with a terrible set of skills, a nearly impossible to effectively use NP, as overall is more useful as a trophy than as an actual servant. But I'm still wondering if it's possible to make him useful. Even if it means building an entire team around him, with specific CEs and Mystic codes.

Before you ask, no, I'm not intending on making a serious team with him to take on harder missions. I'm currently in Okeanos and the enemies are still pretty weak, so I have some freedom to make random teams and have some fun, slowly building his bond in the process as I leave him in the comp, at least in non-boss stages.

My ideas were:

1- Guts CE to combo with his third skill (which I don't have yet, but would make things easier in the future). Supportive team to raise his defense and heal until he can use his NP.

2- CEs that boost his stats and make him hit harder than the massive potato he is. Possibly a focus on his buster or quick cards, with servants that would not only benefit from it (Buster Berserkers, Quick teams, etc.) but also help him in the process. (Card related buffs, easier chains, etc.)

3- CEs to make him tankier and teams that help him become so, and possibly not harming the team's offense. Maybe some kind of stall team that would help me kill all enemies at once after some time? An Arts team to help him build his NP faster?

4- Some kind of balanced team, with someone to tank, someone to support with defensive/healing skills, and someone to do damage. To be honest I'm not sure if this kind of team applies in FGO, since it's mostly class based and the skills aren't spammable. I can't say I've ever seen one, specially involving Angra, but then again I didn't look hard enough. Would appreciate some insight, as well as tips on how to make it possible, if at all.

I don't have all the free Mystic codes yet, so I'm not sure which would be better for each of these scenarios. I'd appreciate tips on team members, CEs, and anything else you can think of that would make this possible. Again, I'm just doing this for fun, and I know trying to make Angra as useful as Zhuge Liang isn't possible. Any help you can provide is more than welcome.

Thanks!

I think the best team for Angra Mainyu is Emiya Assassin plus Irisviel. Iri’s NP gives teamwide guts and Emiya’s third skill forces the enemy to target Angra Mainyu; that combo, plus Iri’s healing ability, makes his gimmicky NP (somewhat) viable. Given that the Einzberns summoned our peculiar Zoroastrian friend in the first place, I suspect that the game developers built Angra Mainyu, Emiya, and Iri so they could be used together.

Sounds like a pretty solid team tbh. Unfortunately I don't have neither Emiya Assassin or Iris lol. If I get lucky on Story Banner and get Emiya someday I might definitely try this. Anything I could use in Iris's place though? Pretty sure she's limited, and the odds she'll come back or that I'll get her are pretty low.

Paracelcus' third skill is a targetable guts. He has no healing skills so he is quite useless otherwise.
Decent teamwide healers would be Medea Lily, Hans, Jeanne, Tamamo.. or any other servants that have targetable heals.

Have the necromancy CE on Angra and Emiya(assassin) for that targetable taunt, maybe some kinda healing in hans(idk)

I might use the Chaldea Lifeguard CE on him since it leaves him with 1 hp, thus the maximum possible damage (if it works). I still need to summon assassin Emiya though. Many people mentioned him, and indeed, his targetable taunt would work like a charm on Angra. Thank you for your help, I'll see what I can do!

Level him to 100. Max fou. Np5. Equip golden millenium tree. Have 5 supports with mlb ideal of holy king. Have maximum 22,158 hp. Deal at max 67,551 damage to all enemies. Easy.

That sounds pretty interesting, but are you sure about these numbers? Grailed Angra has about 11.000 HP. If you add the 1200x5 HP from the CEs (assuming they're limit broken and max lvl), you get 6000 more HP, so it's a max of 17.000. Either way, while it sounds good, it definitely would take a lot of effort and resources, which I don't have. Besides, as much as I like Angra, I'm not sure he's worth all this trouble.

1200x5 HP from a MLB CE usually doesn't work that way. X)
At level 100 an MLB CE can usually give you around 2000 additional HP.

I believe some extra HP can come from 4* fous which will be available at some point in the future and can be used on top of the 3* fous.

I see. I haven't reached any CE to that level yet, so I wouldn't know lol. It does seem great in theory, but despite the fact I like him, I feel that Angra isn't worth all that trouble. Other servants would benefit a lot more from all this.

I actually tried this on JP with a friend's account and the team I run was Him, Skadi, Nero caster, Mozart and Emiya assassin. Do note this is after his interlude of his third skill and the members skill levels is 10.
For the massive Quick nuke I activate his third skill wait for two turns then use Nero caster's third skill followed by Skadi's third first skill, wait until the final turn, switch to Mozart use his level 10 crit star skill and let the 250% quick buff and 100% crit, 100% crit damage plus, and 50% attack buff rip the enemy out then survive with Nero's guts skill.

This team could be used with slight modification on both NA and JP. Focusing on his NP then I run him with Chaldea Lifesavers for the NP gain, Iri if I want to use his third skill and added survivability, and Emiya assassin. Wait for enemy NP to just one turn to fire and use his NP, but use Emiya assassin's third skill, let enemy's ST NP rip kill him with Angra's NP.

This team could also be changed to equipping him with Golden sump, having Iri, and waver and Emiya assassin, this is one of the teams could be used currently in NA. This team works like on getting Iri's NP up for the guts, charging angra's NP with waver then switching waver with Emiya assassin using the taunt letting the enemy's ST NP to hit, and killing your enemy with their damage.

I like the first team though due to massive crits though lol.

Those are some interesting comps. I also thought of having him in a quick/crit team tbh. Given his single arts card, most of his np gain comes from his two quick cards and from taking damage, so a team focusing on that could not only give him some damage through criticals (although for some reason he has a terrible star absorption rate), but also help charge his NP gauge faster. I'm afraid I don't have most of these servants and that I don't play the JP version (though I'm considering it), but I might be able to come up with something. I should get him to stage 3 before anything, since his best skill depends on that to be unlocked. Thanks for the tips!

I am not sure how to make Angra great again. Even though I have 2 in my 3 accounts.

There are several theological idea I may provide
(1) Angra is a good star generator. And Avenger have very limited star adsorption make him good to provide star for other classes even casters. I cannot see any Berkerkers have such ability exept Raikou's NP. However her NP is also for self-star charging rather than make star for DPS.
In fact it is not an bad idea since 18 months later Angra will receive interlude than can help him use his 3rd skill more frequently.
(2) Some SSR servant for team up with Angra is still not presented in NA yet. You can have Eresh, Osakabehime, Merlin to team up with Angra and try hard to have Angra NP more effective in the future
(3) Maybe Kiritsugu is a good teammate so far in order to make his NP more effective. And Irisviel for an effective healer. However the couple have catastrophic NP gain that make you rely on unreliable RNG Art chain of 6 normal cards.

Overall it is too comprehensive to team up Angra, especially for NA right now and you want to use him more durable.

I did notice his star absorption is terrible, and that sucks. He has a passive 10% bonus critical damage and I can barely put that to use. Using him on quick teams seems like the best course of action though. As you mentioned, he is a relatively good stars generator, and he gets NP charge through his quick cards. I'll study some crit teams when I have the chance. Many people mentioned this combo of Emiya Assassin and Iris, but I don't have either, unfortunately. Thank you for your help though!
