I have Tamamo level 90 and 10-6-10, but I also have Kuro grailed to 90 and 6-9-10. (need lores!)
Am I right to assume that Orion's niche is less useful than 5 RP? Especially considering the resources I'd need to raise her and those I've already spent on Kuro? (Who's currently busy 1-shotting that Trash Pillar with said Tamamo that got Tamamo to bond 6 to get me another roll for the spook in the first place.)

Orion's niche is probably less useful, but I'd still save her, she's good in her own right, especially since you have Tamamo too. Seems like a waste to burn a servant that is actually not bad.

Don't burn Orion (you probably mean Artemis), at least put him in the archives. He spooked me during the Nero Bride banner, but he has served me well during Camelot. He has an anti-male niche, so even if the enemy isn't a saber, as long as it's male he will do extra damage. As zer0z said, Orion is not a bad servant and will probably work well with Tamamo being an arts servant. Perhaps level him in your down time.
Orion is actually one of the top dps in an arts team even outside her niche. Main reason is that arts team is a lot about stalling, and Orion's np has both np drain and attack debuff, which are very good for long fights. With a team of Orion-Waver- Tama, the enemies will rarely fire NP. Kuro is not as good in high difficulties (especially with breakbars introduced later) as she lacks methods of control.
Can "males" still be called a niche if it refers to such a large number of enemies? I wouldn't burn a 5* servant over my dead body, but you must be very lucky with your rolls lol.
I mean it's really Male Sabers that Kuro can't 1-2 shot, isn't it?
Getting +100% damage vs males for a turn every 5 turns isn't better than class advantage.
How many hard enemies are male sabers with tons of break bars or something? Even with break bars it seems like Kuro's massive NP gain might give her the edge as she can NP almost as often as Archuria.
Definitely don't burn her, i know getting spooked by a different 5* is annoying as hell but all SSRs are good.
Keep her and eventually ascend her when you have mats to spare, she'll be useful in the future.
That said i wouldn't mind burning Orion and keep Artemis tho.
Funny that you should mention MHX, she actually isn't bad after her strengthening. She's the only assassin (that I know of) with riding so her damage is better than most, and she has a good quick deck to work with, all with good hitcounts too. Her instinct gets an invincibility buff too, so there's that. It's a shame that two of her skills and her NP effect are all next to useless, but it's a testament to how good the rest of her kit is that she still performs pretty well despite her dead-weight skills.
I actually don't think Medb is as bad as most say though it's a pity we will need to wait for her interlude to finally make her third skill worthwhile. Once it arrives she will be far better at burst damage (up to 30% defdown for a turn)
She has nice np gain, hp recovery and her niche of boosting males by up to 40% is always reliable (unless you prefer a female team). If it is a male enemy then her np will also hit pretty hard, and it will be buffed next year as well.
The debuff immunity is also great for dealing with pesky ailments.
Medb and MHX aren't nearly as bad as people make them out to be. MHX is not the only servant to have a mostly useless effect on her NP (Kintoki has a pretty low chance to stun, for example), and her bonus against sabers w/her third skill is actually pretty nice, since you can bring her with archers- they'll love the extra stars and you'll love the extra damage.
He's a pretty tough 5 star ST archer mate, outside male killing he's still good doing general boss killing job and also can act as your backup DPS.
Don't burn a good servant and SSR is worth to invest because their stat is simply very high.
Gotta go with the majority. Orion is no Gilgamesh but far from useless and definitely not worth less than what you find in the RP shop.
I remembered during Kyoto raid event... Banana Oni only manage to fired her NP after she killed my Tamamo and Orion in back to back crits..
