I had something similar happen. You can soft log the game by going to my room and return to title. I believe that's all you should need to do to unlock the quest.

Letter from Mash disappeared
So I accepted the Letter from Mash from my gift box, but when I clicked it, nothing happened and it just disappeared. Now there's a quest that says I need the letter to unlock it. The prize is the Mash chocolate CE. Is this because I already have the CE or did my game just bug out?

For me, I finished the new VR quest in Chaldea gate after receiving the letter in the present box. Then the rest of the quests opened up for me.
