Hey everyone. Ralph here. I would like your opinion on my thoughts about Shirou, but first:
Amakusa Shirou:
Level 90
Skill Level Average: 8.7
Bond Level: 9
NP Level: 1
Shirou, being the second SSR Servent that I've earned, is quite a heavy investment, but his niche is great. I like to regard him as a sub tank/support who can very powerful with an appropriate party for bosses. Consider this, one of personal favourites, the Stun Party: Waver, Shirou, Scathach, Budget Waver, Mash, and Cu Lancer for the Twelve Labor's Boss Fight in Nero Fest.
I intend to reach bond lvl 10 to offer more boosts for my team and other allies who would want to use him, and max Shirou's skills. However because of his damage flaw, I do not intend of investing SQ to increase Shirou's NP lvl. I hardly use Shirou for damage, so I figured I would conserve my SQ and tickets for other investments.
What are you thoughts on this? Should I save my currency for other investments? Or Invest to increase Shirou's NP Level? Your thoughts are greatly appreciated. Thanks a bunch.

I would say he's not going to see a huge increase in effectiveness with an increased NP level. Amakusa is used more for the fact that he removes buffs from the enemy BEFORE dealing damage (He's highly valued in the current Nerofest). But ultimately, no, I do not think he is worth increasing in NP level.
Servants with AOE NP are less suggested for higher NP level. And Ruler won't have so much class advantage then make Amakusa's NP damage less effective.
What he can do and do it excellent is just like you said, Amakusa is a ruler works decent in tough quest since challenge quests required good utility. His NP effect is good, therefore his NP is a kind of Medea style: limited damage, a bit higher than normal card, but excellent NP effect (better than Medea and AOE). Also he has good NP gain and charge skill than make he releasing NP faster.
Team comp is also important. A good teammate can receive beneficial from him and also send support to him. Like Amakusa dont have any evade skill then he is still not invincible to boss's NP. Therefore in a Marathon match you still should consider healing/taunt/defense-up units are good mate even though he is Ruler.
If you want to roll Merlin, or you have Nightingale, then roll for his NP2 or 3 is not a bad idea. Like NP1 will do ~19,000 damage, but NP2 with all Buster Buff on can do 48,000~60,000 damage. In this case, Amakusa may do some damage typically if you have 4060 for supports and activate his Buster Critical. Off course he is still not a top choice for dealing damage than other DPS servants. But rely on good utility, he will play more and more important role in challenge quest in the future.
