Dealing with salt

I have a friend IRL who is F2P except for GSSR. I myself am P2P and have spent a near 4 figure sum on this game. Its not that I regret spending the money, I don't especially since I still got what I wanted when spending. Yet this friend managed to acquire 8 SSRs since starting roughly 7 months ago and has not spent a cent aside from the GSSR.

To my fellow P2P FGO players: How do you guys deal with the salt especially if you have IRL F2P friends with EX luck? It sucks when the one's doing the heavy lifting (whales/dolphins) get jack shit while F2P (leeches?) get the same results or even better.

Sorry if the post comes off the wrong way, I'm just wallowing in the salt mines.

It's easy. Just stop wasting your money in this game.

Brilliant idea, the people working at Aniplex don't need our money to survive, they survive on our salt. People like you are why games are made to cater to the small percentage of people who understand that game developers need to eat too.

Then deal with it then. This game have shitty rates, and spending money won't ensure you'll get what you want.
I have spent some money on the last paid banner, and I'll do again in next banners, but I won't spend money for a mere 1% to get what I want.

Sorry, but I just don't like the kind of attitude "I'm paying, so I deserve better rewards than ppl who don't pay". Yes, I know that's usually with p2w games, but this game isn't one. That's why I don't see worth to buy saint quartz outside of paid gachas.

No offence intended, but don't justify spending with "I'm helping these developers eat!"

FGO is one of the most lucrative mobile games worldwide, they objectively do not need your money, they already have lots of it from many other players. Also recognise that most of these games, FGO included, get revenue from essentially exploiting gambling addiction and people who are prone to it. It's fine to spend money on this game, but again, I suggest you don't justify it to yourself like that.

I meant spending in general and how most people do not spend in games. Hence, why whales account for a large portion of the revenue for most games. As I said, I have no problems with my spending on this game, I just don't like it that my F2P friend was able to get the SSRS that I paid for without spending a cent just by sheer dumb luck.

Yeah fair. I just don't like people using the fact that people have to eat in order to justify people who exploit gambling addicts. But as others have already said, unless you can afford to it's generally not a good idea to spend lots of money when you know there is only ever a 1% chance of getting what you want.

Kinda just have to suck it up and move on. People sometimes get nice things for no reason at all IRL as well. You can either be pissed about it or you can move on.

I know someone who spends nearly four figures on this game on a damn near monthly basis. And every time he complains that he doesn't get the servant he wants, I want to apply my forehead to my desk, if you know what I mean.

I understand where you’re coming from as I’ve spent a good chunk of change on this game and plan to continue doing so. However, I really wouldn’t compare yourself to anyone else paid or f2p because all it does is make you angry. Some people just happen to get really lucky. There are plenary of people who are f2p who have almost no ssr servants after all.

I did read somewhere that you shouldn't compare luck as there are always extremes at both ends of the spectrum. There is always someone with shittier or better luck than you. Kind of hard though, when the friend is IRL and rubbing salt in the wound.

I don’t have anyone in irl playing this game so I don’t have that issue. However sometimes I get a little depressed when I see people saying they got a five star servant from one ticket. But all you can do is be happy with the servants you got.

Serious dude, F2p don't get anything good out of the Gacha, so I don't see why your saltly in the first place.

Sadly, I know exactly how you feel. I used to play Summoners War, and I spent thousands of dollars on that game, and my roster was still worse than several of my friends who were F2P. And since pvp is a big part of that game, it actually matters how good your roster is. So it was certainly frustrating to feel like my progress always came at a much higher price tag than other peoples'.

That experience is probably a large part of why I haven't taken the plunge and started spending money on FGO yet.

I share your pain and salt. I just spent quite a fair bit on Scathach and did not get her yesterday. And this was the 2nd time in a row (the first during her banner). Granted I did get Karna (spooked) and a 3rd copy of tanamo caster; it still feel sore. I hv a JP acct just for fun and on that acct where i did not spend anything; i got like 10 SSRs in a matter of 2 mths including top tier ones like Skadi, Gil, Summer BB all using single rolls.
This is Gacha game....just need to constantly remind yourself of it...and don't overspend. Or best, don't spend at all.

I object to the payment/RNG model so much that I haven't spent anything, even on GSSRs and probably won't in the future either. FYI, I only have 2 5*s, Jack (who I use a lot) and Iskandar (who I don't use)

My only complaint about FGO's payment model is the fact that because it is so RNG heavy, even willing payers may not be able to get who they want. I would rather this game have a "payforwhoyouwant" model but I doubt it would be as lucrative as this gambling model.

I made an account to share my salt.

I'm generally F2P but I "whaled" $200 for the GSSR banner and had over 600 SQ and 30 tickets. For the GSSR, I rolled for Caster and would've been happy with anyone except for Illya and Scheherzade. And guess what happened? I GOT BOTH ILLYA AND SCHEHERZADE. And the other four-star caster I got was Nitocris who I already had at NP2.

To rub salt on wounds, I used up all my tickets and 150 SQ (80 rolls in total) for Skadi hoping to at least get an SSR or top-tier SR as a consolation. NADA. Not a single gold servant. Not one. 80% of what I got were 3-star CEs and servants I basically NP5'd every silver servant in the game.

So I took a break until the summer event. Whatever. Bad rolls happen. That's Gacha life for you - especially with the minuscule 1% or lower chance for a gold servant.

In came the summer event. My only goal was to land Nitocris Assassin. I thought to myself: I have 450 SQ (150 rolls) and at around 1% chance, I'd at least get here right?

You guessed what happened. I got NP3 Frankenstein, NP2 Nobunaga, and dozens of copies of the event CE's but not a single Nitocris Assassin. And not a single SSR either. NOT ONE.

In conclusion, I went through 230 rolls and did not get a single SSR outside of the GSSR. I'm not even thinking about those EX luck rank players who ended up with a handful of SSRs with less than 100 rolls and $0 spent.

I'd love to keep playing this game since the art style, story, and overall gameplay are the best for a Gacha game. But I can't stomach having to pay to summon servants and with how craptastic my luck is, it'll be a parade of three-star everythings.

The part that hurts most is having to maintain discipline for several months, ignoring all these high-profile amazing servants because you were saving your SQ for a particular banner. And it all ended up with nothing.

If anything, FGO gacha is just a preview of how unfair life becomes. And just because you "worked hard" or focused doesn't mean you get anything out of it. Of course, there are stories of EX-rank players. But there's a reason you can google search stories about how sadistic FGO is and how masochistic E-rank players like me are.

That's my story. K thx bye.
