Best place to farm hero's shield or mantle

You can get the drop for the Hero Shield on the Demon Lord difficulty on Lava Tube while the Mantle is on the Demonic Lord at the Castle Gates. At least that's where I got my drops.

I've gotten them from most difficulties and locations, but the higher difficulties drop more things so better chance for the shield or mantle
