Are demons removed from caster dailies?

No, they are still hiding in the Advanced and Expert dailies. I've at least encountered 4 after the same amount of runs you've had. Even if you came across one eventually though, you're lucky if you don't pull a gem out of him. I've only managed to collect one heart the whole day trying to farm.

I sure miss the hunting quest.

Would be fun if daemons complete extinction was foreseen in the game, but no, they're still there and greedy for hearts as always.
