Overview
- It's baaaaack, and nearly as vicious as before! Masters had the opportunity to fight Altria before during the launch of the FGO USA Tour.
- However, this time, the global server has access to improved Servants from Rank Ups and Interludes. In particular, Jeanne d'Arc has had her NP upgraded, making her one of the best Servants to take on this challenge!
- Teams will have to sustain the high damage Altria can dish out and must tank or drain her NP.
- Altria will focus on Caster Servants first as if they had a taunt skill active. Using taunt skills can override this and fielding multiple Casters will make them share Altria's aggression.
- Altria will attempt to pre-cast Mana Burst before her NP.The resulting damage is often enough to wipe out a team even if some defense buffs are active.
- The NP charge on Break cannot be avoided, only delayed. Stunning her will cause a delay, but she will cast her NP charge at a later time (usually at a most inconvenient time). Instead, try to time breaking her HP bar when she is about to NP.
- The defense down is brutal in single Caster teams - it can nullify defense-based support and even lead to death by critical hits.
- If all else fails, use command seals to claim the Summon Ticket.
Team Recommendations
- Below are four potential options that can be even be mixed:
- Full support teams with no DPS, which aim to simply grind Altria down slowly (Merlin, Jeanne, Mash, Tamamo, Waver).
- Arts-based Drain/Sustain, focused on avoiding NPs entirely by draining her gauge and grinding her HP down (Key DPS: Altria Pendragon (Archer), Orion, EMIYA (Alter)) (Supports: Tamamo, Waver).
- Arts-based Tanking, focusing on teamwide Invincibility via Merlin or Jeanne (Key DPS: Any Arts DPS) (Supports: Jeanne, Merlin, Mash, Tamamo, Waver, David/Tristan).
- Merlin-based NP tanking with Buster DPS. In this setup, focus on keeping Merlin alive. This setup can achieve high damage due to Buster buffs from Merlin, but may eventually fall as Altria will overwhelm defenses due to strict skill cooldowns (DPS: Any Buster DPS/Archer) (Supports: Merlin, Mash, Jeanne, Waver, David/Tristan).
- In general, a double defensive support is basically a necessity. Any teamwide Invulnerabilities are a commodity here,
- Because Casters will soak up all the damage until there are none left, any other class will only be affected by Excalibur Morgan for as long as Casters exist on the frontline. This is extremely exploitable!
- Some highly durable Casters can be used as Tanks - Nursery Rhyme, Caster Cu Chulainn, Marie Antoinette (Caster), Charles Babbage, and Tamamo are all very durable with additional support.
- David and Tristan are darkhorse options and can fit into almost any composition. As Harp of Healing is hit-based, it can be used proactively to get the cooldown going and an Evasion active on non-Casters.
- Short tips: Berserkers will not be targeted with Casters on the field (immortal Cu Chulainn (Alter)), Altria has a ton of exploitable traits (MHX/MHXA!), and Mash can protect extremely well and draw fire/buy time.
- Overall, focus on rotating skills to survive while grinding her HP down.
- The best Mystic Codes are Atlas Academy Uniform / Chaldea Combat Uniform / Chaldea. Chaldea Combat Uniform provides Stun / Order Change, while the others provide 1-turn protection for Casters and either healing or cooldown reduction.
- Typically, the Atlas Academy Uniform is the most versatile option and can cleanse excessive defense down debuffs.
- Make full use of CE options. Volumen Hydrargyrum on a DPS as well as additional defense(Iron-willed Training) on a main Caster support are highly effective.

- Altria (Archer) setup - Altria Archer (Support, NP2) + Tamamo + Gil Caster + Backline Waver + Chacha (can sub for other debuff caster)
- Chloe + Mash + Jeanne(Support)
- 3* setup - David + Cu Caster + David Support (Backline: Gilles Caster, Babbage, and Tawara Touta).
- Arash setup - Merlin + Arash + Support Merlin (Backline Mash + Irisviel + Chloe)
- Memelin setup - Jalter + Merlin + Support Merlin
F2P Team Suggestion
Note: The team suggested below functions fine, but with Jeanne having access to her NP Upgrade now, any Arts Archer/Jeanne + Hans, Mash or David team will perform exceedingly well.
- A team of David/Mash/Merlin can potentially remain standing for the entire duration of the fight, provided Altria does not indulge in too many critical hits during the third HP bar.
- With only Merlin on the frontline, he will always be the focus of every attack.The Valentine's CE equipped in the picture above improves his healing received and buffs his Arts card - which is a very potent combination for this fight.
- The goal is to provide Merlin with as many defensive measures as possible to make him last the entire fight. Once he falls, both Cu and Babbage are essentially additional short-lived tanks.
- After all, Casters have basically a permanent taunt on them.
- Mash with all her skills maxed, and David with at least rank 6 in Harp of Healing is required (lower Harp of Healing is possible but the NP charge from transitions may cause problems).
- Charging Merlin and Mash's NP bar is far more important than doing damage. The goal is to sustain for as long as possible - damage is a byproduct.
- Since Mash and David will not be targeted, their HP is of no concern, especially as Merlin's NP will restore any of Mash's lost HP from her taunt.
- The Atlas Uniform Mystic Code is an ideal partner for this strategy - it can cleanse the defense debuffs, lower cooldowns and tank Altria's damage for a turn with an Invulnerability on Merlin.
Early turn-by-turn strategy:
- Turn 1: Use David's Harp of Healing, and use Merlin's Charisma (it charges the NP bar - the damage boost is nice, but not as relevant here)
- Turn 2 or 3: If Mash drew an Arts card, use her taunt and use her Arts card last in the chain - it should charge her NP (nearly) to full.
- Turn 2 or 3: (or previous turn) Use Mash's Invulnerability on Merlin. If Merlin can NP at any time - do so.
- Turn 4: Use Mash's Defense Up, and her NP if available.
- Turn 5: Use Merlin's Illusion to tank Altria's NP. From now on, rotate Illusion and Harp of Healing to counter her NP.
- Turn 6: Defense buffs are still up.
- Turn 7: At this point skills are coming off cooldown again. Try to keep Merlin topped off, redirect with Taunts (but only if Mash can charge her NP too), and rotate defensive cooldowns.
- At this stage how the strategy works should be apparent. Keep spamming Merlin's NP whenever possible. The team should be very stable until her third HP bar.
As the fight progresses:
- Early on Merlin can toss his Hero Creation on David for more damage, but as Altria becomes stronger as her HP bar is broken, he will need the extra healing it provides.
- Mash's Overcharge slightly improves the defense buff - it's usually more useful than extra stars in this team.
- David's NP timing isn't too important - focus on survival first and foremost. It does seal skills - which can help, but it can also delay her NP charge after breakage.
- Once Altria is in her last stage, she will start to overwhelm your defense - especially if Merlin is buffed with nothing or a single defense up, or if she decides to crit a few times. Buy as much time as possible.
- David can stack his defense buff with Mash's to reach maxed defenses - useful for the final stretches.
- It will take a long while, be prepared to spend more than half an hour or longer
