Depends a little on whether you own gacha CEs or not and how many Servants you own.
You might need to use some - but you could wait a little as the event does last for 2 weeks in total.

Do i need to use apples to clear the shop?(baking chocolate) this is my 1st time playing the event so i don't have any CEs from the previous one.
Side note: is the shop music the same as from the FSN VN??sounds familiar.

Before you devote yourself to full on farming, though, it's probably a good idea to just wait for the final node, since that'll get you the highest turn out. Though, I suppose that depends more on how confident you are of clearing it, I guess.
Personally, I usually wait until the final few days before I go all out in farming, see whether or not I manage to clear out the shop of everything I deem "essential" to get.
This was my first time too but you might use a couple but nothing more. I completely missed the fact that only expert was released yesterday and I used 3 apples and I know for a fact I will have more than enough to clear the shop of everything except the monuments and molds before the event is over. Just utilize the molds properly and you should be fine. The event initially seems confusing but work on getting the shop CEs, mlb one of them and use the rest to fill up your party slot for around a +16-17 buff if you use a friend that has the +5-6 CE. I sort of tried calculating average of my drops with the bitter difficulty and I should be done within the next 8 days. Note that this is on the bitter difficulty, not sweet or royale.
Is that just for the normal shop, or are you working on gathering all the servant CEs and cutscenes as well? I added up that I need something like 10-12,000 choco coins just for all of those. (Though I have finished the Saber, Archer and Lancer ones already.)
Remember that you can exchange coins for baking chocolates. :)
I’d wait until the final 3-4 days of the event to use apples. It’s super tempting to use them to clear it early, but apples are valuable. (And, if you’re like me, you used all yours during the lotto events and Solomon, so they’re really at a premium.)
I’d focus on farming a single class type until you can comfortably field a ~15+ bonus. Don’t MLB any of the CEs because the 5th might drop as you farm.
Then I’d clear the shop and keep track of roughly how many chocolates I’m getting in a run. I can use that to eyeball whether or not I’d need to be apples to finish farming.
I’d also MLB a CE before I use apples. That extra drop will add up over a couple of runs.
Also—be really picky about your supports. Don’t grab a support that doesn’t have a +5 or +6 CE if you can help it. That’ll greatly speed up the process too, since the gap between a +5 and a +2 will only add up.
FYI, the "bitter" level drops 10-13 stacks of 2, so the bonus makes up the majority of every drop. I'm up to +15 now for a single class, so its a difference of 20-26 total unbuffed vs 170-221 per quest at +15.
I started with no CEs at all, but got lucky with one FP gacha drop, one 3* from the event gacha, and one battle drop. I've ignored the Valentine CEs because I don't see them paying off before I replace them with shop CEs.
I'm using some apples just on "sweet knight" as the gear drops a fairly decent.
Might try out the royale knight after it s release to check out the heart drop
