Yeah, there's a decent difference in value. Whether you need to get them depends on what CEs you start out with. For those without any gacha CEs, they're pretty good.
But let's discuss the molds.
1. You are misinterpreting the drop rates for the molds in Royale. Those are the drop rates if you go in without a mold - you can basically add them up together. As such you have a 70% chance to get a mold drop in Royale.
2. There are 40 Molds to get per class - 30 from the shop, 5 from the Free Quests and 5 from log-in bonuses. That's 40 molds. That alone is 280*40 AP.
3. Now let's discuss....compound interest. Let's say we save all 40 Caster molds (you ought to!) for Royale. While we clear Royale, we get about 70%ish drop rates of Molds. Because we only face Casters - that's about 28 Molds for Casters. Cool, now we have 28 more. If you use those, you still have 70% drop rate - thus you end up with about 20 more mold, then 14, then 10, then 7, then 5, then 3/4, then 2, and finally 1. Roughly. You end, rounded up, with bloody 130 Caster molds.
That's insane AP-wise - and that's Caster alone.
TL;DR: You will never run out of molds. Use them on the 30 AP and up nodes in combination with +5/6 CE bonuses.
