Right now the daily quests cost only half their usual AP, so it's best to keep doing those for now. Farm exp, and if you have enough, farm QP. As for the gallstones, according to the JP schedule, King Hassan's banner happens during a week with only the training fields on half-AP. If you don't need anything from those, then you could just use that week to farm gallstones.
I’d say to farm it during a down week. I farmed for that material recently and it wasn’t too bad. What I did was farm one gallstone a day to keep from getting annoyed.
