My best answer is it's better if you exchange the fruit cakes with mana prism. With that mana prism, you can exchange it to many useful things like summon tickets, fous, exp card, and ofcourse, CE Chaldea Lunch Time.

More efficient to farm for White Stockings or Short Cakes
I don't really intend to buy the class pieces since I have a lot of them and I've pretty much gotten enough short cakes to buy all the related ascension materials, so should I just focus on farming up for the stockings or should I continue farming short cakes and exchange them for fruit cakes? Would that be worthwhile?
The maximum bonus I can get for fruit cakes is +3 (bringing in an Ishtar with the related bonus CE) and I'm currently farming with a +3 bonus for short cakes, but if I removed one Holy Knight Supper, I'd be able to get a +4 short cake bonus.

You get more out of the lottery than converting shortcakes into fruitcake. The exchange rate is just that bad.
