Well i have a decent amount of SQ for him but i was wondering, "the people will pay for him and i'll find him everywhere (even with NP 5)" ,so i already pull out 1 artoria (the only one 5 star i have so far) and i'm not so interested in summer banner (more about gameplay reasons) then it will be a while until i "get" zhuge lían but will it be whorty to have a merlín ,so ¿zughe meme team or try to have more damage with artoria?
Heres the thing, like you said most people will have merlin on their support, but you will also find almost every other character on support if you look hard enough. Roll for characters you like and still if you want to go for gameplay reasons stick with merlin.
I'd say save for Merlin. Arturia is a farming servant and imo no farming servant is worth more than a good support. That said, ST becomes slightly less relevant in the future due to break bars, and Lalturia's ignore invincible on her NP might be useful. I'd still say Merlin though. Plus, if you have your own Merlin, you have the option of running 2 of him, which can be useful.
Why would ST servant be less relevant in jp?
If they are less relevant how come Cu Alter, Jalter, Musashi and many other ST servant is still being sought after in jp?
Because bosses start to have 2 to 5 50k to 100k health minions and the introduction of break bars make bosses unable to be killed in 1 turn, so really its just the meta right now with more events having more enemies with smaller health bars than less enemies with a lot more health. This is just the meta right now in a while it could go back to st being better.
To be accurate, I didn't say they were irrelevant, just less relevant. Of course they are still very effective, it's more that they are not as sought after as they would be at this point in the game. AOE servants aren't seen as purely for farming anymore either. I would also like to add, that for Cu Alter, Jalter and Musashi specifically, a lot of their value comes not only from their high ST damage output but also from their synergy with Merlin.
Gameplay wise? Definitely Merlin.
While Artoria is restricted to being a slightly tankier wave clearer and farmer, Merlin is so versatile that you can literally put him in any team and it would work. The amount of supporting capability that he dishes out with his NP is unparalleled to anyone including Waver, the best support we have right now. Having 2 of him is just insane but if it works, why not?
Artoria Archer is also a notable servant that is literally capable of spamming her NP every turn with the right setup, and is among the best, if not the best ST archer in the JP server to date, so trying to roll for her is also a good idea.
