[OFF TOPIC] Where can I read/watch Gilgamesh's backstory?

Back when FSN first came out or even some time after that, when it still remained one of the biggest things in the animu world, I saw people talking about him like he's the biggest dick in the world, and I understand them. Gil was kind of a hatesponge character, his personality was terrible, everything he did was terrible....

But until not so long ago, he was not hated anymore. I did some research and found out (I dunno if my infos are correct..) that thing about him and Enkidu, he got a backstory with a lot of feels or something. While I'd like to see that, I don't know where it's from, which show is it. Anyone with the information can point it out and explain the whole thing to me?

Fate servant lore is based off of myths and history so if you want to learn more about gilgameshs past, you can just google his backstory or look at the Epic of Gilgamesh. I don’t think there’s a show about his backstory, other than maybe a documentary or soemthing

I think I read about it a few years ago in the fate wiki. In any way just searched it there, but if I remember it was just a summary...so just look where they got those info. Not really sure...

Have you read or heard of Fate \ Strange Fake? It’s a light novel that originally began as an April Fool’s joke, but both Gilgamesh and Enkidu are summoned as servants in that story and fight. I haven’t read past the intro chapter, but I think it’s the source that’s most likely to discuss Gil’s Fate backstory. You can even just search for the Gil vs. Enkidu chapter. Good luck!

Yeah, Giglamesh is the hero in the first work of literature called "The Epic of Gilgamesh" It' a really short poem (because the original is just 12 stone tablets and not really a book) He is the king of Uruk, he was a great king and loved by the kingdom but wasn't really happy because, being a demigod, he had no one he could call an equal in terms of strenght.
That's when he heard rumors of a savage man born in the forest whose strenght was unparalleled and was scaring a farmer. Gilgamesh decided to send a sacred prostitute called Shamhat to sleep with him for six days and seven nights, while teaching the man about civilization. That savage man's name was Enkidu.
After some stuff he and our boy Gil become friends, they go in adventures killing beasts send by the gods and stuff. Enkidu dies, Gil cries him for a long time and then realized his own fear of death. Gil then sets for a journey looking for a man who's said to be immortal and obtain his secret. He fails the trail but is told that at the bottom of a river is a flower that can make him young again, he finds it and then a serpent steals it from him as he just weeps.
That is the end of the story, 11 Tablets, the 12thone is kind of like an OVA about Gil going to the underworld to get his friend Endkidu back. It really is an interesting story, I suggest you give it a more in depth read.
Sorry if I made some mistakes, english's not my first language. Hope it helps!

There is also a PSP game called Fate EXTRA CCC where Gil is a playable servant (Emiya, Nero and Tamamo being other selectable servants) that elaborates on his back story and other personality traits however the game is in Japanese with no English release.

I think there is a group of people making a fanslation English patch for it but I have no clue how long that is going to take.

https://tsukinoura.wordpress.com - This website basically has posts of a persons translated play through of the game with Gil as the selected servant if you are interested in reading that.

PS Fate EXTRA CCC is a sequel to FATE EXTRA which also released on PSP and is in English
