Boss Analysis
- Tristan deals 150% damage to all classes except Shielder.
- Being Archers, the three knights in the first wave have 3 bar NP gauges and should be killed quickly.
- Tristan’s basic attacks deal about 2000 damage per hit unbuffed, with his Buster cards dealing around 3400 damage.
- Thanks to Tristan’s high hit count, your Servants will be able to charge their NP gauge more quickly.
- On the first turn, there is a large chance that he will use his Harp of Healing skill.
- Tristan can use his other skills as well. Notable among these is his NP charge skill, however, as it also applies the NP Seal debuff on himself, there is little worry over sudden NPs.
- Tristan’s NP deals high damage and ignores Evasion, meaning that only very high percentages of defense buffs or Invincibility buffs can reliably allow Servants to survive it.
- Tristan receives neutral damage from all classes (even Berserkers), except for Sabers, which deals 200% damage to him.
- While Tristan has very high NP damage, it only hits a single person instead of the whole party. Therefore, it is possible to simply focus on dealing damage on him, turning the stage into a damage race. This is especially so in this fight, where he has a relatively low HP value.
- On the other hand, due to the NP’s built-in Evasion Pierce, a defensive strategy would be trickier to pull off - requiring either Invincibility buffs, Taunts, or extremely high percentages of defensive buffs.
Team Composition Recommendations
- Despite Tristan’s gimmick basically telling the player to bring Sabers, the three Archer-class knights in the first wave possess considerable HP pools, and may pose a problem for unprepared teams.
- As such, the frontline should include an AoE Lancer-class Servant, alongside a support to increase their effectiveness. Berserkers are also a good choice for this purpose.
- The backline should consist of damage-dealing Saber-class Servants. Consider which Servant among the frontline is likely to die first and order the backline such that the first replacement fulfills the same role. Sabers with Single-Target NP are preferred.
- Due to Tristan’s grail buff, Mash is the perfect support if a defensive route is chosen - she can even benefit offensively-oriented teams, in order to buy more time.
- Servants of other classes are also usable against Tristan, especially those with super-effective modifiers against Earth or Male enemies.
- Tristan’s Evasion Pierce means that the basic Chaldea Mystic Code is not recommended for this stage. Instead, equip the Chaldea Combat Uniform for more offensive strategies, or the Atlas Institute Uniform for defensive ones.
