Overview

  • The Challenge Quest is identical to the original run, the guide is mostly the same, with the exception of the quick recommendation table being updated for the current Servant roster.
  • The so-called Final Honnoji’s final challenge has us challenge Shibata Katsuie’s final form, with three health bars totaling over 3 million HP. Despite being a Berserker, Shibata Katsuie has 3 actions instead of the normal 2. He also comes with his own unique skillset, consisting of a delayed 100% Critical Rate buff, a 200,000 HP restore, as well as self-mental debuff immunity bundled with an NP Charge effect. His NP is single-target and has Defense Ignore, and will also apply a 3-turn Defense debuff to its target.
  • Shibata’s gimmick revolves around Defense Up and Damage Cut buffs. At the start of each turn, he applies a 2-turn, 10% Defense buff and restores 2,000 of his own health. After first Break, the Defense buff is upgraded to 15%, the amount of HP restored to 2,500, and he gains an additional 1,500 Damage Cut effect for 2 turns. On his final Break, these amounts are further boosted to 20%, 3,000 and 3,000 respectively.
  • In essence, if given the chance, he will generally have two stacks of the aforementioned buffs at any moment. However, he will not apply a new set of buffs on turns where he’s incapacitated (i.e. Charmed/Stunned).
  • Furthermore, upon each Break, Shibata will apply a 6-hit, 30,000 Damage Cut buff, meaning that Servants without the event damage CE will be hard-pressed to deal any meaningful damage outside of their NP. On the other hand, those with the CE will tear through these buffs, especially with the help of external buffs and/or criticals.
  • Shibata’s one easily exploitable trait is his Male attribute, which leaves him vulnerable to Anti-Male damage, and more importantly, Charmlock strategies.

Team Recommendations

  • The boss’ Berserker class, as well as the existence of an event damage CE, means that 3-turn strategies featuring B B (Summer) in combination with the Chaldea Combat Suit are very effective. Typically, such a composition would include a main damage dealer (equipped with the event damage CE) and two buffers, one of whom would be switched out for B B (Summer) after buffing. This strategy may require restarting the stage until favorable starting cards are obtained.
  • While single-target NP loopers are the natural option for the B B (Summer) strategy, critical damage dealers (such as Jeanne d’Arc (Alter)) can use their critical Brave chains to a similar effect, assuming they have a reliable source of critical stars (which B B contributes to). Damage dealers with the event damage bonus should be prioritized, namely: Okita Souji, Nagao Kagetora, and Ushiwakamaru for the NP looping side, and Demon King Nobunaga on the critical side. Both types of damage dealers profit from having Golden Captures the Carp equipped on their allies, helping set up the first turn as well as indirectly providing extra critical stars for the following turns through critical hits.
  • Damage supports are of prime importance for this strategy, as failing to one-turn a health bar will result in an extended fight on the third and final health bar. Zhuge Liang, Scathach-Skadi, Merlin and Tamamo-no-Mae are of course the best options in this category, and indeed, it is best to tailor the damage dealer choice to the supports available to the Master. Also of note are Paracelsus von Hohenheim, and to a lesser extent, Gilgamesh (Caster), Hans Christian Andersen and Helena Blavatsky.
  • As mentioned in the first section, Shibata is susceptible to Charmlock. A standard Charmlock composition includes two Euryale, with the third one being more flexible (usually Stheno or Circe). The Chaldea Combat Uniform is preferred for this composition, as the Stun may be able to fill in turns with otherwise no Charm/Stun. Note that on any turn without Charm/Stun, Shibata may cast his mental debuff immunity skill, which greatly interferes with this strategy.
  • A more conventional composition for this stage involves a single-target damage dealer with Defense Ignore, assisted by damage supports and/or Taunters to keep them alive. Ryougi Shiki (Assassin), Jack the Ripper, Asagami Fujino, and Minamoto-no-Raikou (Lancer) are several examples of possible damage dealers.
  • As all of Shibata’s attacks are single-target, Taunters such as Mash Kyrielight, Georgios, Leonidas and Chevalier d’Eon can be used to absorb damage and buy time for the main damage dealer to dish out enough damage or charge their NP.
