We find ourselves in a time of gift giving and celebration, my dear readers. A time to rejoice, and love your fellow man, woman, or whatever lies in between.

Of course, I mean the lotto event. It’s November, for pete’s sake - We need to be fighting back Padoru every time it creeps upon us in Autumn, not welcome it with open arms.

But alongside our wondrous mix of Unlimited Farming Works and multiple high-difficulty quests, we have a new Servant to examine.

Introduction

Breit- uh, Britomart. Bad slip of the tongue there.

It seems that two things remain constant in FGO - Nasu slipping in mecha wherever they can possible manage it, and female Servants with sex appeal cropping up wherever humanly possible. So why not fit two in one?

…and she’s also not actually Britomart, but Britomart’s daughter. Honestly half her profile reads like something I could’ve sworn I’ve read in a Light Novel before.

Overview

So far as base stats go, Britomart is pretty typical, but thankfully offensively-oriented. With the 5th best Attack and tied 4th worst HP of her class and rarity, Britomart has a pretty respectable balance of offense and defense (as Lancers typically are both offensively strong and durable), even if she’s ultimately flexed on by her Fairy Knight senpai in Melusine.

But hey, losing to Melusine in terms of power is something every Servant other than the girl herself has in common - she’s basically the best offensive Servant in the game.

While Britomart does well for base stats, her passives aren’t anywhere near as impressive, with only high-ranking Magic Resistance to her name. The extra resistance to debuffs helps, of course, but it’s not anywhere near as much as some Servants get in their passive lineup.

First on Britomart’s skill lineup is Queen’s Citadel - Storm Armor Shell. As one might expect of an armor, this is Britomart’s primary defensive skill, providing her with a 2-time, 3 turn Invincible buff, on top of 30% Critical Resistance and NP Gain Up for 3 turns.

Put together, this skill makes Britomart incredibly resilient, able to regularly shrug off attacks entirely, and even when the Invincible buff drops, she’s essentially immune to crits for the skill’s duration. The NP gain buff stacked on top is the cherry on top, even if, in farming situations, it’s the most important part of the skill. Getting more NP gauge from your own cards as well as from being hit is vital for getting out NP’s more often, so this skill only aids her ability to (potentially) NP spam and farm.

And naturally, being able to live for longer in difficult content from this skill’s defensive perks is good, too. With a typical base cooldown of 8 turns, this is a little slow to come off cooldown, but well worth the upsides.

Next on the lineup is Virtue of Chastity. Apparently, being a virgin gives you a bunch of critical-focused perks. Who knew?

To the point, this skill is a grab-bag, providing a 10-star bomb, a 10-star per turn buff to Britomart for 3 turns, Debuff Immunity to herself for 3 turns, and a 30% Critical Damage buff for, you guessed it, 3 turns. While individually each buff isn’t particularly impactful, in combination they provide her with a fairly consistent engine to supply her crits with, on top of Debuff Immunity, nothing to scoff at in difficult content.

While she wasn’t exactly starving for stars in the first place, Britomart definitely appreciates a means to generate stars for herself or her team, and the Debuff Immunity is an extra package of utility on top. The 8-turn base cooldown on this skill is pretty long for its power, but it’s a solid skill, so it’s not too unexpected.

Last on the docket is Fairy Knight (Fairylands). If you thought for a moment Lasengle would produce a Servant without the FGO staples of dual-card buffs and NP gauge charge, you thought wrong.

This skill is both in one, providing a 30% boost to Britomart’s Quick and Buster cards for 3 turns, as well charging her NP gauge by 30%. Considering she had exactly 0 offensive steroids before this skill, the damage boost is very much appreciated, as is any form of gauge charge.

In combination with her NP gain buff, this skill provides a notable improvement to her Quick cards’ NP gain, which includes her NP itself. It goes without saying this skill’s effects are vital to Britomart’s NP performance, whether it’s the damage output or refund.

With an 8-turn base cooldown, this skill aligns with all of Britomart’s other skill cooldowns, and not unexpectedly considering the gauge charger tied in. Having all your skills come back at once can be a perk of its own, especially in more extended fights, where the skill cooldown gap will widen over time.

Britomart’s NP is Penetrate Bladud, a NP that might mean more to you if I say Bladud can be alternatively spelt Blaiddyd. Whether or not Britomart’s NP will be able to, quote unquote, “Kill every last one of them”, is a different story, however.

This is a Quick AOE NP, so naturally we’ll want to break down its potential for NP spam and farming completely eventually, but first we’ll cover the effects.

Before anything else, this NP provides a couple of buffs to Britomart for a turn - Ignore Invincible and a 50% Anti-Riding Skill Effective Damage buff. As a class skill to the Rider class, and generally just a very common Passive skill, this provides Britomart against a very good portion of the Servant cast. Roughly 100, give or take, though I didn’t sit down and count them out.

But Britomart doesn’t just stop there. You see, Britomart’s lance is presumably the one of her namesake’s legend, a lance that can fell any knight in one blow (honestly, on top of Britomart’s influence from Bradamante’s legend, this thing is probably based on the Trap of Argalia), so it’s trying really hard to kill anything on horseback - the damage of this NP itself has a +50% damage modifier versus Rider-class enemies, scaling with Overcharge.

Considering how pretty much every Rider has the Riding skill (the exceptions usually being some pirates, like Blackbeard), this means Britomart is inherently getting a massive +125% damage boost versus Rider enemies, more than class advantage would provide.

That’s ultimately balanced out by her low damage output in general due to her lack of offensive steroids, but a secondary class advantage by proxy still isn’t half bad.

Now let’s discuss the farming capacity of Britomart. At her baseline, Britomart’s 6-hit AOE NP produces a refund of 21.9%, which is very high for a Quick NP.

Throwing her in a typical 50% gauge charge CE setup with double Summer Skadi, she pulls off a clean 51% refund per NP, even before overkill. That’s more than enough to manage a 3-turn loop.

However, on the damage front, she has some issues. In the prior setup her NP scrapes along at 59k damage neutral, enough to farm against her class advantage, but not particularly confidently. While that isn’t factoring in a Mystic Code, it’s still a sign of a clear weakness.

But there is a shining ray of light for Britomart - due to her unusually good NP refund, she’s one of the few Quick Servants capable of running Black Grail compositions consistently. While it does require her to have maxed out Mana Loading in her Append Skills, she can farm fairly confidently in a double Summer Skadi, Regular Skadi Battlesuit Swap comp.

In such compositions, assuming a non-LB Black Grail, 1k Attack fous, the usual shabang, she pulls off an impressive 111k damage neutral on waves 1 and 2, culminating at 158k damage neutral on wave 3. While it’s not a comfortable damage margin, that is certainly enough to be a universal farmer, with some extra leeway if she can nab her anti-Riding damage bonuses.

It goes without saying, but that solid farming game translates to Challenge Quests pretty well. Britomart’s kit has some solid synergy with Skadi’s variants, being able to dish out hefty damage to Riders or Archers alike through typical defensive buffs, and also dealing very respectable critical damage on the side.

Conclusion

So how is Britomart overall? On the one hand, she’s a knight among knights, a fae little fickle thing, and her armor, should you (correctly) make her wear it, is badass:

Britomart is a pretty well-rounded Servant, with a collection of niches that gives her plenty of room to fit into abnormal team compositions. Her anti-Rider focus aside, having both Invincible Pierce and Debuff Immunity on the regular are very useful tools to have to your name, while her Critical Damage output and durability are both solid enough for her to carry her weight even when she isn’t NP spamming.

The prior point is important, because it highlights Britomart isn’t just another class advantage-only farming option. Her refund is high enough to run Black Grail setups (albeit with a reasonably costly support lineup), which in turn fixes her damage issues that otherwise plague her farming, even letting her become a consistent universal farmer should the situation call for it. But even if you can’t run such high-investment setups, she pretty much pulls double duty in being able to farm both Archer and Rider nodes effectively, on top of the typical Berserker nodes.

However, she’s also a fraud, pursuing the glory of her own parents, and honestly her character design makes her look like an SAO character unaware of the tentacle monster lurking behind her:

While Britomart’s ultimately got a solid farming performance, it’s slightly held back by the level of investment she needs to be acceptably effective. Even for her 50% NP gauge CE setups, having access to either of the Skadi’s can be something of an ask, then again the Black Grail setup which demands both (hell, I don’t have Ruler Skadi personally, and I’m well aware it hurts my Quick farmers a lot). Compared to some of the Arts farming compositions, or even some Buster ones, which only require more generic supports, or the fundamental cornerstone of “Just own Castoria lol”, Britomart’s best setups produce standard results for excessive investment, by comparison.

I feel we’ve had a fair few of these lately, but Britomart is yet another SSR farmer that’s more than competent, but doesn’t manage to breach the realm of the universal farmer gods outside of particularly high-cost setups. While that means she isn’t breaking the meta, it doesn’t mean she isn’t good to have around.

Her utility tools are very handy to have around, particularly when she’s introduced in an event with countless difficult quests to throw her at. Invincible Pierce and Debuff Immunity are tools that consistently pull their weight, and when coupled with her solid defensive tools and Critical damage output, Britomart makes for a respectable staple Lancer to add to your collection, especially if you have the Quick support lineup to push her to her limits.

Well, I won’t complain about a 1-Servant event, all things considered. Besides, it’s simply the prologue to the main event to close out the year and occupy my Winter holidays, the mass Servant introduction as part of the Seventh Los-

Eh? You’re saying we’re getting no more new Servants for the rest of the year? Seriously? Because they want to avoid spoilers for LB7?

Well tickle me both excited for the story and scared for how stacked the New Year's season will be.
