Boss Analysis
- Quetzalcoatl has special buff that completely nullifies non-flat damage from Servants with a Good Alignment and reduces damage dealt by Servants with either Balanced or Evil Alignment by 50%. Servants with a special alignment such as Summer / Insane / Bride deal full damage to her however.
- Unbuffed, Quetzalcoatl hits around ~4000 damage per hit. However, due to her own Charisma, Buster buff and Critical Hit buff, she can and will hit a lot harder than that.
- The hard mode Quetzalcoatl is even more dangerous, at times capable of deleting a Servant in 2 basic attacks!
- Her Noble Phantasm can be particularly annoying, as the Burn damage is 1,000 per turn and not factoring in the NP Seal can cause many strategies to fail unexpectedly.
- There are 4 Story Supports players can borrow:
- Merlin NP4 (Level 85): While Merlin is undoubtedly great, this is a trap. He is both a Caster and does not have his third skill - which is his primary damage boosting skill. Illusionism can help to survive against Quetzalcoatl for an additional turn, but in general it is not worth picking him over a powerful Friend Support.
- Medusa (Lancer) NP4 (Level 70) / Ishtar NP 4 (Level 90) / Jaguar Warrior NP 4 (Level 77): None of these Servants are particularly useful for this fight. Do not pick them.
Team Composition Recommendations
- Masters who do not have particularly strong team should ALWAYS pick option 2. As mentioned, only pick Option 1 if you want a challenge and have the team to do it..
- The party’s main damage dealer should not have a Good Alignment, as Quetzalcoatl’s damage nullification is the biggest obstacles to overcome. Quetzalcoatl hits extremely hard when buffed. Buff removal is quite useful, as are Servants who can raise party defenses or have class advantage against her to mitigate her damage.
- Having a source of debuff cleansing is quite useful in the event that the team's main damage dealer gets the Burn / NP Seal from her Noble Phantasm.
- Due to her sheer damage, using a taunt Servant to soak hits and use as sacrificial bait is very strong. A combination of long duration taunts with Evasion/Guts/Invulnerability can soak up a lot of turns.
- A typical team composition for this node would be having one sole main damage dealer with great damage, and a huge supportive cast providing protection. As mentioned, taunt Servants are a great option to take the focus off the main damage dealer. Furthermore, as Quetzalcoatl is a Rider, avoid bringing too many support Casters to the fight, as she can one-shot most of them quite easily.
- Jack the Ripper and Heracles are the two strongest possible picks for this fight. Jack has great survivability, buffs removal, bonus damage against female, healing and class advantage. Heracles has amazing survivability when equipped with Castle of Snow and can abuse Guts to solo through Quetzalcoatl. He also deals full damage to her thanks to his Chaotic Insane alignment.
- If players do not have Jack the Ripper or Heracles, a feasible team composition would be using two weaker damage dealers and 4 supports to outlast her.
- A solo Heracles strategy with his bond CE, Castle of Snow, is essentially a cheat code for this stuff. Spamming his Buster Brave Chains and fielding a lvl 1 Leonidas + George will be enough to even take down the powered up version of Quetzalcoatl. Chuck in an Atlas Institute Uniform or Anniversary Blonde and victory is certain.
